Humans @ The Biltmore
January 29 2012

Opening the show was Blood Diamonds and his reputation, as usual, preceded him. With the kids from Oh No! Yoko backing him up it was a perfect tease for our boys Peter and Robbie.
HUMANS have always been a Winnie favorite and all I can say about their live show is money well spent. Peter and Robbie have an infectious chemistry on stage that gets the audience frantically involved. Although I was excited to hear some of the new material for their next record, I can’t seem to stop enjoying Avec Mes Mecs; still.
Make sure you drop a line with the boys next time you’re out, they’re total sweethearts. Enjoy the single from their last record, “Avec Mes Mecs“, and “Dreams” from our Blood Diamonds.

ANGELIQUE KIDJO & MIKE STEIPHENSON
January 29 2012
Fantastic Afro-Pop hit from Angelique Kidjo, coming from her 1992 album ‘Logozo’, which is well worth looking up. As is the very hard to track down ‘Jungle Club Mix’ of this track, off the 12″.
In 1967 Sevac Ekian recorded a ceremony of Ingoma Tribe in the East African State Burundi. Back home he developed the idea to arrange a “musical marriage”(mariage musical). Therefore he asked the producer Mike Steiphenson to create a fitting tune to those absorbing drums he brought.
In 1971 the track was published under the pseudonym Burundi Black and is considered by some to be the first disco track (though I’d debate that).
Aphex Twin and Die Antwoord Sydney and Melbourne Shows
January 29 2012

Future Music have announced sideshows for South African zef-siders Die Antwoord and proggy electronicists Aphex Twin.
Arguably one of the most influential electronic artist in the history of contemporary dance music, Aphex Twin (AKA Richard David James) has been twisting minds and taking dancefloors on epic ‘braindance’ journeys since the release of his debut EP ‘Analogue Bubblebath’ back in 1991.
Die Antwoord are a blistering trio of rap-ravers that know how to get a party started and take it into overdrive. Hailing from Cape Town in South Africa and fuelled by a passion for hip-hop, Zef and rare rave tunes, this dynamic trio is the genius behind singles like ‘Beat Boy’, ‘Rich Bitch’ and ‘Wat Pomp’. Already veterans of festivals, they have recently started up their very own record label called, what else but Zef Recordz. This act is mad, bad and leave you wanting more.

LOUISE FREEMAN & MAGIC TOUCH
January 29 2012
Italo disco from a queen who never quite made it big: Louise Freeman. Released in 1983 on Italy’s Bubble Records on the flip with ‘Aa Ee Oo Uu’, and coming across like an early Madonna hit.
Non-stop 100% Silk hits don’t stop with a 12″ from another member of US Rhythm-Punk act Mi Ami (the first being ITAL who graced Melbourne’s shores just last week where I managed to catch his DJ set and an unbeatable live set too). This time the beats come from Magic Touch (Damon Palermo alongside Jonas Reinhardt, with Honey Owens on vocals.
Twisted House magic.
Jhameel – Human Condition (Sharooz Mix)
January 29 2012

Sharooz has killed it with a rhythmic soul remix of Jhameel!
Bursting onto the scene in 2006, Sharooz’s debut ‘Hell Yeah’ became one of the club records of that year, played numerous times on Radio 1 and selling over 40,000 copies. Other releases include ‘Masterblaster’ and ‘Sextitude’ on DJ Dan’s Instereo label.
This ‘Human Condition’ by Jhameel remix is presented in the style of a strange yet chilled tone. Sharooz has done some nice work on the vox and created a cool groove driven wooden percussion drum pattern.
