New Ones from SAVED Records
January 30 2012

Nic and Mark Fanciulli‘s Saved Records is always a one-stop shop for good House tunes, and today we’ve been sent over two releases that are on-point as usual. The first EP comes from Andrea Oliva, the Basel-based producer known for his Tech House prowess as seen in previous releases on Hideout, Cadenza, and others. The Out Of Town EP is a two-track set of rollers that was just released on Beatport today, and a must grab if you’ve never heard any of his other work.

The second gift we received from Saved today is a new single, ‘Sacrifice,’ from labelhead Mark Fanciulli. Again, it perfectly resembles the Saved sound and will make its debut the 27th of February. Head on after the jump to stream!

Album Review: ScHoolboy Q – Habits & Contradictions

B+ | 01.14.11 | TDE | Stream | MP3
It would be difficult to come up with a better title for ScHoolboy Q’s second album, Habits & Contradictions. The album mixes second-nature stoner anthems with sophisticated struggles, lulling you into a hazy calm before pulling you out with a spitfire verse or a hyperactive beat. It’s a calming album at times, but leaves the listener’s pulse racing, even after 17 tracks and over an hour of music.

My personal favorite Feist song, “The Bad In Each Other,” the opening track from last year’s great Metals album, now has a visual accompaniment. The clip is a puzzler, but pretty nonetheless. Check it out below:

Lil Silva becomes one of the many to take a stab at ‘it-girl’ Lana Del Rey and her unstoppable pop phenomenon ‘Born To Die’.
Taking a slow-burner approach with some nice filtered vocals in the intro, Lil Silva kicks it up a notch, showing off his two-step drum samples and almost hitting hardstyle territory… but in a sensible, club-blinkered approach. Don’t let that genre arousing put you off.
This is just a flat-out great remix, to the point and delivered with impeccable timing. Long may future LDR mixes be up to this standard.
