New heat off Mike B’s forthcoming Scion A/V compilation, “Los Angeles: Tite At Nite” which should be dropping later on today. Listening to “Ensenada Nights” off the EP from newcomer Evan Stalker is reminiscent of cruising down the sunset strip with a trunk full of Four Loko.

Get it below, and look out for the full compilation later on today, featuring an eagerly anticipated DJ Dodger Stadium track, “Late Nite Respek”.

gorilla vs. bear + spune present: GRIMES – Live in Denton

January 31 2012
GORILLA VS. BEAR

We are very psyched to announce that we’ve teamed up with our friends at Spune to present an evening with GRIMES on Thursday, March 1, at Dan’s Silverleaf in Denton. If you caught her set at our 2011 SXSW party or our inaugural GvsB Fest back in July — or if you’ve heard any of her forthcoming album-of-the-year-contender Visions — then we don’t have to tell you that this show will be amazing, and will likely sell out. Born Gold + Peopleodian open. Spune has hooked us up with two pairs of tix to give away: just leave your name in the comments below or on our facebook, and I’ll pick the winners at random the week before the show. You can also purchase tickets now at spunetickets.com.

The 2 Bears “Warm and Easy”

“Warm and Easy” is almost overbearingly optimistic, with its two vocalists threatening to smother every bad vibe with grooves and mellow hooks. But it’s really charming, mainly because these guys get that you can always get away with utopian hippie stuff if you don’t seem as though you’re taking it too seriously and you’ve got a solid tune. The chorus bits by Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard are what make the song, especially in how he balances out the goofiness of the lyrics with just enough earnestness to make it clear that they’re not kidding about all the positivity.

Pre-order it from Amazon.

360 – Boys Like You (Alison Wonderland Remix)

Stoney Roads

Australian hip-hop superpower 360 gets the Alison Wonderland treatment on his massive crossover hit ‘Boys Like You’. Known for it’s sympathetic hooks and massive pop-tinged chorus (due to the immense vocal delivery of Gossling), it was always going to be interesting to see how a dance flavour tasted on this bad-boy.

Truth is, the mix is dope in every sense of the word. The trudging, gurgle of the bassline mixed with 360‘s juvenile, lyrical wit compliments one another like Gillard and a kick to the face. Wonderland‘s handclaps are a big hit, as is the kick in the chorus! Jesus!

You don’t need me to tell you it stands up mighty fine.

Mau5trap signed Moguai’s ‘Shuffle’ + audio run through!

Moguai

What started out as a simple ‘Shuffle’ feature has now turned into something a bit more earnest and appealing with Moguai curating not 5 but a whole 9 tracks alongside an audio run-down and video for each.

The Germans brand of big-room electro has leant towards his signing to Deadmau5′s own imprint Mau5trap and has helped surface him as a go-to for thumping originals and in-demand remix duties.

A dance artist commissioned to playfully produce not one but two full-length albums in just as many years? Plainly put it just doesn’t happen with the exception of the German specialist.

What makes an EDM star tick though?

We find out nine tracks that bore the future fruits for this clever and real producer.

Audio: Moguai explains his love for each track

1. Prince – Purple Rain: The best record ever made.

2. Falco – Der Kommisar: My sister influenced me a lot in my taste of music. She heard this song so often in the eighties and I bought the single. I think I was 12 J

3. Phil Collins – You can´t hurry love: Because it was the first record, I danced to.

4. Ben Westbeech – Get Closer: This track is just enjoyable, always puts a smile on my face!

5. Underworld – Rez: I usually don´t go to afterhours, or afterparties.. but if i do, this is the sound i´d like to hear.. still such an amazing track

6. Desmond Deller & The Aces – Israelites: One of my favourite tracks of my Mod / Ska period, reminds me of scooterruns..

7. The Meteors – Wrecking crew: Truly the Kings of Psychobilly!

8. New Order – Blue Monday: Timeless record, one of my alltime favs!

9. Dial M for Moguai – Beatbox: This was my first chart hit in Germany, with a solid “late-90s-EDM-music-video”! After that one I decided to drop my studies in law, and make a living of producing music!

His sophomore album ‘Mpire’ careens forward in an progressive electronic manner, its got the high’s and its got the low’s, the breakdowns and big drops, it’s everything you’d ever want and more and is out today!
