Heartbeats by JJAMZ

A new band on the streets, JJAMZ is another super group featuring members from Rilo Kiley, Maroon 5, Bright Eyes, Phantom Planet and The Like. All friends, they decided to form a group during one late night karaoke session. Probably one of those euphoric, exciting plans that everyone makes when they’re drunk that sounds like a good idea only at the time, “We should all make a freaking band together!” This inebriated idea stuck and JJAMZ’s lead single, “Heartbeat,” is awesome.
It kicks off with a killer base throwing you back twenty-some years into the mid 80s. Z Bergs soft, melancholic vocals about trying to rev up a long forgotten love is the perfect sound of sweet sentiment paired with lusty guitars and wavey synths. And though every music reviewer carelessly throws around how these retro 80s songs would fit A+ in a John Hughes high school film, “Heartbeats” is one of the few that actually would.
