Jack Peñate’s Back With Free Track “No One Lied”

Last week, Jack Peñate unveiled a video for new song “No One Lied”, shot and recorded in one take at his home. Now, the UK singer/songwriter has kindly offered the track as a free download. The song is a stripped-down, poignant, heart-on-sleeve moment that’s sombre and tender at once. I hope this means a new LP is on its way soon. His last full length, the Paul-Epworth-produced “Everything Is New” was such a fantastic but overlooked record.

Django Django – Default (Logo Remix)

Kitsune label’s Logo give Django Django’s pop rock single “Default” the remix treatment and proves that the French touch is still as relevant as ever. The young Parisien duo draws out the intro of the track with a symphony of school children and bicycle bells. This transitions into a funky beat supported by ‘chick chick chick’ of a repetitious and crisp hi-hat and a hypnotic bass guitar line wrapped with a new layer of synths. The result is a dancefloor worthy track that electroclash lovers can call their new anthem.

Richard X: ‘Albums leak when fans disguise themselves…’

Richard X, the producer behind MIA, Kelis and the Sugababes believes leaks, like those recently of Lana Del Rey and The Tings Tings new LPs is due to crazed fans and not piracy rings.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Richard X explained that from his experience, people can leak albums after disguising themselves as members of the music industry, so that people will send them unreleased material.

He went further in saying it was “the fan-driven mentality, and rightly so, is that they want to hear new things and will do anything to get the exclusive. I personally don’t think it’s a big evil piracy network behind it all.”

In essence we agree, the initial leaks are from those who feel the need to share, because of somethings worth but the eventual spread can by fast-tracked due to popular torrenting sites like What.cd and Torrent Freak.

Is there really a sure-fire way of stopping albums from leaking too early? What do you think?

Young Turks takeover FBI Radio + New Jamie XX

This week the Young Turks label have taken over Sydneys FBI Radio for an hourly installment every day.

They are in Australia touring with the national Laneway Festival that is spruiking many acts from their roster including Glasser, Bullion, SBTRKT, John Talabot and Chairlift.

With three of the segments down a number of exclusives have already been played including new material from Jamie XX, Bullion and even a mini-mix from Romy XX.

The never-heard-before instrumental from Jamie surfaces on the Tuesday show about midday through.

Having met Caius, Tick and Katie recently, there is no-one doing it better than the British troupe.

The XX are expected to have finished recording their album within the month…

Young Turks Takeover on FBi Radio

Grabbing a shitload of inspiration from the first volume under Generation Bass, and actually Generation Bass in general. Such success from Umb & Generation Bass was inspiration enough to take things to the next level with Moombah-Thong.

It was inevitable to be apart of the latest tradition that started in late 2011. With the reputation Moombah-Thong has gained, concentrating more on new talent in the Moombahton scene as well as the hottest names in the game, Moombah-Thong being apart of this compilation series had to be done!
Hand picking the artists you see before you for the most obvious reasons, all names featured in this compilation have completely changed the game in the past 6 months without any sign of remorse which has earned them the title of The Next Wave of Producers.

Sticking to their Aussie roots, The Aston Shuffle have created an indie/ house pumping vibe through long stretched out synths and side chained ear pumping kicks. They seem to have made a name for themselves as being the go to people when there is a track with poppy sounding vocals!
