Brookah of the temporarily deceased Squeegie Sounds blog sent over this incredible remix of Rich Boy’s 2006 hit “Throw Some D’s”. Miami based DJ/ producer JWLS took everything from the original and simply made it better. I realize that sounds like the logical thing to do when putting together a bootleg, but unfortunately it’s not always the case. Thank you, JWLS for doing this thing proper.

Not that he needed it, but this upswing of Trap music has made Decibel‘s stock go up just that much more. Although his style if more Dubstep than anything, there are definitely nuances of the former. It’s really a nice marriage of the two genres. I’m not trying to put any spoilers out there, but I’m pretty excited to hear what he comes up with for his contribution to our Mix Series.

Seattle’s Sasquatch! Music Festival is going down on Memorial Day Weekend (May 25-28) this year, like every year. It’s sort of like Coachella, only with less celebrity sightings and almost no old bands reuniting, but when you get down to it, Sasquatch! delivers. Just check out this year’s boldface acts: Jack White, Beck, Bon Iver, The Shins, Feist, among others. In our experience, it’s very easy to get around the venue and this year’s schedule conflicts seem minimal, so it might be a good time to start getting excited. We’ve put together this hour long Spotify mix to preview the festivities next week:

Grimes is very big on splitting her voice into multiple harmonic parts that simulate the feeling of fractured thoughts that overlap, collide into one another, and sometimes totally contradict themselves. I’ve heard this before in different ways in other songs, but part of what makes her music interesting and powerful is in the way she seems to delight in this, and the most euphoric moments in her songs embrace this indecisive delirium. “Circumambient” is especially remarkable, with verses that form clear thoughts about a relationship in which neither side can move forward without addressing issues and a chorus that starts a thought that cannot be completed.
