MP3: Yeasayer Remix Fanfarlo

02 01 2012

Fanfarlo are dropping Rooms Filled With Light soon and a whole bunch of teaser singles leading up to it, and we’ve been continually impressed by the sunny electro-pop direction they’re taking. It makes sense, then, that the band recruited Brooklyn post-apocalyptic electro crew Yeasayer to remix their latest single “Shiny Things.”

Yeasayer’s Sinkane – “Jeeper Creeper”

12 06 2011

Ahmed Gallab, who plays drums in Yeasayer, also makes electronic- and worldbeat- informed indie rock solo as Sinkane, and he’s gearing up to release his next record Mars. “Jeeper Creeper” is off that record and it sounds like – well, if Yeasayer recruited Ali Farka Toure to layer skittering, bright guitar riffs over that post-apocalyptic electro soundscape they’re such expert purveyors of. It makes sense that Gallab would draw from some of the more compelling elements of his main project, but his work really shines when he departs from it – we can’t get enough of that guitar line. Check it out below:

Yeasayer Debut New Songs

06 11 2011

In May, Brooklyn’s Yeasayer stopped by Conan and played a brand new song called “The Devil and the Deed.” Last week at a show in Missouri, the band played “Devil” again, along with two other new cuts called “Henrietta” and “Demon Road” (they’re really pushing this hellish imagery for LP3 aren’t they?). You can watch Yeasayer perform the new songs live on the fan-captured videos below:

Yeasayer – “Swallowing the Decibels”

04 21 2011

Like pretty much every other band worth mentioning, Brooklyn based experimentalists Yeasayer put out an exciting limited edition 7” for Record Store Day (this past Saturday), a perfect collectible for any true fan.

Aptly titled End Blood, a nod to last year’s highly successful Odd Blood, the record features two singles, both of which are bursting with the eccentric, electronic flavors that were featured on the LP. We’ve already posted B-side “Phoenix Wind” yesterday, and have now got our hands on the A-Side “Swallowing The Decibels.”

The tune displays similar bubbling synthesized movements that appear on their most accessible tracks “O.N.E.” and “Madder Red,” but is also way slower, working like an acid trip gone wrong, complimented by frontman Chris Keating’s stirring vocals. Any enthusiast of Odd Blood will enjoy it, guaranteed.
