Damn, sorry for being comatose for the last two weeks, I feel even worse about missing emails that people sent me. I definitely missed some stuff going through pages of emails, but luckily my co-writer Sasha was on the ball this whole time. He caught some real gems. But I will have more time now and will work hard on the blog once again! Halloween is coming up, there should be some awesome tracks that will surface for the occasion. Serious business.
Josh and Kyle, also known as NightWaves or the writers over at Binary have gotten some fucking amazing artists to remix their track Fascination from their album LA Nights. I won't post all the remixes, but some of my favorite ones. It'll be more than my normal three. Included the original which is great, everything I love. I guess I just love dreamwave... or Binary... They got Keenhouse (I guess that one would've been sooner or later), We Plants Are Happy Plants, MMMatthias, Bit Funk, Junkie XL among others to do the remixes. Can I say, everything I wanted? KEENHOUSE!!! Got too excited there... I posted the MMMatthias remix of the track last week which you can check out if you haven't already. I had no idea there was a whole line of remixes, I need to do more research. Again, comatose. Check them out, and check out the compilation album(Amazon).
Binary… the LA (loosely) based collective are making dream waves with collaboration work from family and friends. You would have seen a lot of hype/talk on most blogs as they gave away fo-free full tracks in 320Kbps with mixes from Grum, Russ Chimes and Kleenhouse to the knowing and unknowing fans.
Following the release of ‘Heart Attack’, ‘Ari-es’ and ‘Heatwave’ from LexiconDon, Fabian and Keenhouse the newest single ‘Fascination’ from Nightwaves stays well within the boarders of soaring synth magic, anthem-esque vocals and teamed up extraordinarily skilled beat wizards.
Fascination in particular presents plucked and stabby keyed chords doused in a sense of freedom… of escape.
A mid week inbox update for you, music sent in to me which I'm thankful for. First off is the Edwin van Cleef remix of Solange. A really clean electro remix track, reminds me slightly of the sharp sounds that Lifelike or Keenhouse uses. Second is a new track from We Plants Are Happy Plants, slightly different from the last track I posted from him Apollo, which if that's what you're looking for that track is kind of unique from his other stuff. This track is much more club and upbeat. And lastly, the KiD COLA remix of Lego Johnson. The sounds in the intro of the track really remind me of something, it's on the tip of my tongue but I can't for the life of me remember what it is. I want to say Justice, but I know that's wrong. Great track.
Alright, two artists to start off the week. First off is We Plants Are Happy Plants with Apollo from his forthcoming album Twilight of the Dawn. He's a one man show out of Budapest. The track is interesting to say the least, it's quite elegant in a melodic narrative fashion. It starts off with dialogue from The Man from Earth which really sets the tone for the rest of the song; philosophically high? I basically listened to this track for a whole day last week, had a lot of images and thoughts that went through my head. Binary described this track the best. I saw lots of images of space though, like a scene out of 2001: A Space Odyssey. I need more music like this.
Second is Discovery, which includes the keyboardist from Vampire Weekend Rostam Batmanglij and the lead singer of Ra Ra Riot Wes Miles. I included the track So Insane from their debut album LP which will be released early July. I always liked Ra Ra Riot, this actually mixes the two pretty well.
