Ever since I grabbed Captain Gascid’s album Remember I have been listening to it on repeat.  The album is extremely unique and demonstrates a strong understanding of sound-design.  Original, groovy, psychedelic and of course acidic, Remember 2: The Reckoning is one of my favorites tracks off the stellar album.  So don’t miss out, grab this tune now!

• St. Andrew – Midnight Girlfriend *320

I just had to feature St. Andrew (Djemba Djemba); the kid is a true production wizard!  St. Andrew’s production on this track is flawless and tight  . Pick it up!

• Tommy Trash – Cascade (Original Mix) *320

Tommy Trash has been creating a lot of buzz lately and it doesn’t seem like it is going to fade anytime soon.  Cascade is a Progressive House monster that melodically builds you up just to drop you into a dirty beat.  This is the perfect track for any Progressive DJ that needs a dancefloor devastator.

• Chuckie feat. Gregor Salto – What Happens in Vegas (Pierce Fulton Remix) *320

Pierce Fulton continues his climb from underground sensation to EDM household name.  Pierce’s What Happens in Vegas remix is clean, melodic and jaw dropping.  Make sure to grab this!

• Angry Kore – Techno Killer (Original Mix) *320

I always like to throw in some dark sinister techno into my Dirt selections, so here you go : )

Burn Unit’s Picks

One of my favorite remixes of 2011, and this song has pretty much been on repeat over the last month or so for me. Beautiful vocals contributed by Shola.

It’s weird I can imagine this song being a standout track of a night out or just serving as the perfect soundtrack to fall asleep to. Really a standout track from top to bottom.

Yes, it is exactly what you think it is. Yes, you will love it. Sampling old R&B and hiphop cuts seems to be the key to my heart, because Eats Everything, Danny Daze, Lee Foss, have all produced some of my favorite tunes in recent memory.

• David Tort – Acid (Lost In Acid Ausfahrt Mix)

I can’t for the life of me remember where I found this tune, but fuuuuucckkkkk meeeee. That is all.

Sometimes there’s just no way around it… recent GDD™ featured vixen shae b. sent this to me today as a joke, but this track is anything but. Quality fucking house jam right here. Enjoy.

Last month, we heard that The 2 Bears will be releasing their debut album on DFA records on the 30th of January, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. The highly anticipated release will feature some of my favorite tracks of last year including ‘Be Strong,’ ‘Bear Hug,’ and their newest single just released this week, ‘Work.’ The ‘Work’ EP is incredible. Not only is the original an embodiment of all that I love about The 2 Bears, but it also comes along with top-notch remixes from Toddla T, Oliver $, Supabeatz, and Franky Rizardo. BBC Radio 1 have dusted the shelves and said au revoir to stoic presenters Judge Jules, Gilles Peterson, Kissy Sell Out, Fabio & Grooverider.

The reason for the clean?

“It’s important that Radio 1 continues to develop new talent and the station keeps evolving for our young listeners,” said Radio 1 Controller Ben Cooper in a statement. “These changes to our evening schedule will strengthen the range and depth of the specialist music offering on the network.”

Doing just that the powers that be have settled on current dubstep hitters Skream & Benga, London bass-hopper Charlie Sloth, DNB-er Friction and young gun Toddla T.

From April 2012 the young-blood will be taking over!

Raf Rundell and Joe Goddard AKA The 2 Bears are up there with my top 5 acts of 2011 so far. Their refreshing sound has been evident in all 4 of their EPs since March of 2010, and it seems as if they show no signs of letting up. With elements of Garage, Funk, Tech, and their own brand of Electronica, The 2 Bears consistently outdo themselves with brilliant production. Last month, the duo put out a promo mix for last weekend’s Bestival on the Isle of Wight, and it’s a good one. Complete with plenty of originals off of their newest EP, Bear Hug, as well as a few from the likes of LOL Boys, Toddla T, Jamie XX, and more, this hour+ long mix will definitely get you movin’. Can we please get them out to tour the US as soon as possible? Who’s with me?

Moombahton pioneer and moombahsoul master David Heartbreak has a new ep out on Toddla T‘s Girls Music label which is a must have for all moombahton heads out there. Included with two other bangers is “Blaze Up”, a collab between Heartbreak and Toddla T they coined as “moombashment” which is reggae and dancehall inspired moombahton according to a recent Heartbreak interview. TODDLA T‘s original is such a good tune. Perhaps a bit too commercial but the DILLON FRANCIS remix wipes that out with some wobble and a shake.
