MOWGLI @ VOYEUR SD

12 08 2010
Photobucket
This weekend, San Diego has a tropical storm coming. The London-based Italiano MOWGLI will be making his way to Southern California. Let me just say that I have waited for this for a LONG time, and I couldn't be more jazzed about it. Mowgli has just requested to play a 2 1/2 hour set, so Voyeur is gonna turn into a tribal, minimal, fidgety, jungle-bass rainforest. I encourage you to make it out to this one if you're in the area – check out the Facebook event to RSVP! (or send names to bones@gottadancedirty.com)

¡BONUS!
This is an old school Mowgli remix he did way back before the tropical-ness hit his groove. He samples vocals from 'Joe Budden - Pump It Up' and the outcome is pure dirty magic.

Four On The Floor

I thought it would be nice to kick off this St Paddy’s Day with Tim Deluxe from North London (no doubt an Arsenal fan). Skint records released his ‘Freedom’ EP which perfectly executes tonight’s style of choice. Jazz. Building and beautiful with lots of complex and glimmering chord progressions.

Tim Deluxe – Freedom (Original mix)

Anyone worth their salt knows about Made To Play records and once again they have a monster jazz induced dancefloor tinkler from veteran producer from Germany. Having received much in the hype dept. from the likes of A-Trak, Riva Starr, Renaissance Man and ZDS lately Oliver $ is one to watch for ’10.

Oliver $ – Lost Arrival (Original Mix)

Frontroom records has been featured here recently with some of the Siopis and Daniel Steinberg stuff that we have loved and here we get yet another glimpse of one our favorite labels of the new scene. Named after the Dizzy Gillespie/Charlie Parker’s master piece Jamie honors the original in producing a off kilter keys breakdown that even Diz would love with all his logic.

Jamie Anderson – Night In Tunisia (Original mix)

Throwing it back to 2008 here with Dakar and the textured sound scape of ‘I’ve Got That Feeling’ from Get Physical records. The vocals hit me me so hard on this cut sue to the tracks simplicity and bluesy rhythms.

Dakar – I’ve Got That Feeling (Original mix)

MANALOGUE MIX

08 15 2009

Uh, I finally recorded a mix. It’s been a year since I’ve done one successfully. I tried in December and January with while holding my son but they didn’t go so well.

Funny though, I really wanted to make a mix of summer indie tunes but nothing came together the way I wanted it to. In the end, I ended up recording a wobbly electro something. It’s not perfect and but it’s still pretty fun.
