THE GLASS

One of my all time favourite labels PLANT MUSIC, out of New York, consistently put out some great records. Their releases aren’t the type that scream for attention and although I don’t know anything about the label’s vision or philosophy, they seem to take a slightly different approach to music and its creation.
Their latest number came out yesterday, a long player from Plant’s founder Dominique Keegan and DJ WOOL who are THE GLASS. The album has 10 tracks of brooding house music that straddles the line between melancholy and an eternal sunrise. The tunes are by no means dark but there’s a haziness running throughout the record that offers a glimpse of light.
Here’s a cut from the Four Four Letter single that’s a bit different than what’s mentioned above – a remix by BLACK VAN who allows the sun to shine through the haze.

Stream: The Glass’ Debut Album, At Swim Two Birds

Last month, I totally nerded out for The Glass' single Four Four Letter, and each of its subsequently impressive remixes (seriously, the Bad Decision fix is **muah** perfection). Now, less than a week out from their debut album, At Swim Two Birds, getting it's proper digital release via Plant Music, y'all can get a taste of their delectable ditties that already have me swaying and salivating. Both compliments.
November 16 is the official release date for the debut full-length, but how nice of the dudes to let us 'ear in on the entire offering before it's out and about. Err, well, the CD is available on Amazon right now, but BAH!, who buys those anymore?

The Glass – Four Four Letter

I love getting press releases under the guise and notion that "...people are loving it..." because that inevitably means, yep, there's not a chance in hell I'm jumping on board that already crowded train. But so goes NOT the case when it comes to The Glass' new single, Four Four Letter, since when tossed into Beastonia all tight and tidy-like, well shit, the people have spoken and the people are more than loving it...and by people, I mean me. And by loving, I mean obsessing, duh.
While earlier this year, the track began to float around, I inevitably missed it and shame shame shame on me, but that's neither here nor there. Four Four Letter is the new single by NYC and Berlin buddies, The Glass (Dominique Keegan & Glen 'DJ Wool' Brady). Co-Produced by London's Jagz Kooner, the song is part disco, part indie dance, has a soft pop vocal and is a dead ringer for all I've been getting in and down on and to lately.
Remixes come courtesy of Black Van (DFA) who are Kris Menace and Oliver Kowalski (Moonbootica), UK Bass heroes HeavyFeet, who bring some UK Garage to the table, and house music legend Ian Pooley. Newcomers Bad Decision go straight to disco teching things out a little and that's naturally my favorite fix.
You get the original for free, a stream of said aced out mix, and the word that Four Four Letter is out now on Beatport and October 22 on iTunes. So do something about it. Trust!

MANALOGUE’S ROBOT FUNK MIXTAPE

Here’s a bit of a rushed mix I did for THE SHAKE, a weekly radio show LOTEK and I do every Friday night on KICK FM. Lotek and I are both out of town this week, hence the mix. It starts off with a bunch of robotdisco jams and gets into some house-flavoured breaks and ends with nu disco and tech house.

Our fellow Awesome Agency homie DJ Wool (from The Glass) with the latest release on his own label We Collect Enemies, “The Dark Snuggler” comes packed with a techy and club banging feeling that will leave you yearning for more. The EP will drop exclusively on Beatport June 28th with remixes from German wonder Lars Moston, Swedish brooding tech outfit Boeoes Kaelstigen and new project Jetlag (collaboration between Andy Rourke from The Smiths and DJ Ole).
