SXSW is over and with it comes some new tunes. The latest from Dr. Dre has just leaked, a collaboration with fellow master producer Swizz Beatz. “Chillin” is duet between the two rapper/producers, the beat evocative of Beats’ signature motif, one of those blast in your Cadillac drive slow type of deals.

To wrap up his GOOD Fridays-inspired Monster Mondays, Swizz Beatz enlists his super-talented superstar wife, Alicia Keys and veteran rapper Eve to help him go out with a bang. Swizz has taken the throwback, sultry back track he built for Kanye West’s contradictory “Devil In A New Dress”, and offered a response to West’s cold verses that matches the warmth of the gorgeous Smokey Robinson sample used in the song. On her take, brand new mother Alicia Keys dedicates “Speechless” to the most important man in her life, her baby boy.

Kanye West dropped another new tune over the weekend — “Lord Lord Lord” — for his ongoing G.O.O.D. Fridays MP3 series, in which Kanye has vowed to give away one free MP3 a week until Christmas. Quite noble, no? His nobility is still not in question on the latest G.O.O.D. Friday release. Like many other “GF” tracks, it’s heavy on the guest spots. It’s seven-plus minutes feature G.O.O.D Friday regular Charlie Wilson and his golden pipes, as well as two of hip hop’s most respected names, Mos Def and Raekwon. Oh and Mr. Alicia Keys also came along for the ride. And like “GF” highlight, the feverish, ghoulish “Monster”, Kanye West let’s his friends really shine, without ever disappointing himself.

After listening to this “Wondamix” of Janelle Monae’s “Tightrope”, I have question the reasoning behind putting B.o.B. and Lupe Fiasco’s on the track, in the first place. The two weren’t particularly bad, but rather, unceremoniously uninspired. Nothing about the first half of the Wondamix stands out, not until Janelle really jumps on the track. We’ve already praised Monae of her uncanny ability to blend, mash and tip-toe around traditional genre-lines. I never thought I’d be writing gushing praise for her ability to out-rap, nay, flat-out school B.o.B. and Lupe Fiasco.
