<p><em>Carl Cox has claimed that he was playing dubstep, &#8220;three years before anyone even called it dubstep.&#8221;</em></p>
<p><em>Cox made the claims in an interview with <a href="http://www.timeout.com/london/feature/2233/a-big-ask-carl-cox">Time Out</a>, going on to say, &#8220;I never got known for playing that style. I don&#8217;t mind the now generation being seen as the pioneers, but there had to be a Carl Cox opening the doors for these guys.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>Read Skream&#8217;s response and more after the jump.</p>
<p><span id="more-19574"></span></p>
<p><em>Dubstep big gun, Skream seemed to have disputed the claim on Twitter, by tweeting, &#8220;I would genuinely like to know what pre dubstep tracks Carl Cox was playing&#8221;.</em></p>
<p><em>Skream then went on to claim his tweet was being taken out of context and tried to rectify things by saying, &#8220;Before this get&#8217;s out of hand I would like to say I have nothing but respect for Carl Cox&#8230;True pioneer and an absolute legend!&#8221;</em></p>
<p><em>Another day, another Twitter misunderstanding.</em></p>
<p><em>So what do you guys make of the kerfuffle? And does anyone have any evidence of Cox playing dubstep? Send your videos of Coxy dropping &#8216;Midnight Request Line&#8217; this way please.</em></p>

To ring in the last month of the year, we have The Dirt #55 that should be on repeat throughout your weekend. Grab all of our picks in the .zips below, then catch commentary and GDD™ exclusives after the jump!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?zzeua3gzzu6b6zm" >SweetFA&#8217;s .zip (3 tracks)</a><br />
<a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?q68bboh3rb18nop" >Toks&#8217;.zip (6 tracks)</a></p>
<p><span id="more-16858"></span></p>
<p><strong>Sweet FA&#8217;s picks:</strong></p>
<p>Kicking things off with two slow burners, the first by a rising Chicago house producer <a href="http://soundcloud.com/savile/">Savile</a>, who&#8217;s set to release his next EP via <a href="http://soundcloud.com/urulu">Urulu</a>&#8216;s new <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Amadeus/258774557470554">Amadeus</a> imprint. Here&#8217;s a remix of <a href="http://soundcloud.com/monarchysound">Monarchy</a> that Savile&#8217;s giving away on his soundcloud:</p>
<p><object width="100%" height="81" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F27750673" /><embed width="100%" height="81" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F27750673" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object> <span><a href="http://soundcloud.com/savile/monarchy-gold-in-the-fire">Monarchy &#8211; Gold In The Fire (Savile&#8217;s Falling Up Mix)</a></span></p>
<p>UK&#8217;s <a href="http://soundcloud.com/hallsofclassic">Halls of Classic</a> is another young up and coming producer, set to release his &#8216;Freedom/Failure To Launch&#8217; double A-side on <a href="http://www.metamimetic.com">Metamimetic</a> in 2 weeks time. In the lead up to the release, our pals at Meta are giving away B-side &#8217;201&#8242; for free via their <a href="http://soundcloud.com/metamimetic">soundcloud</a>:</p>
<p><object width="100%" height="81" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F28885425" /><embed width="100%" height="81" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F28885425" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object><span><a href="http://soundcloud.com/metamimetic/halls-of-classic-201">Halls Of Classic &#8211; 201</a> </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>GDD Exclusive:</strong></span><br />
Today <a href="http://soundcloud.com/themagician/">The Magician</a> sent over his new remix for London indie-popster <a href="http://wolf-gang.co.uk/">Wolf Gang</a>. The track will feature on Wolf Gang&#8217;s new EP entitled &#8216;Stay and Defend&#8217;, and sees the original pared back and given a tropical makeover. The track kicks in proper around 1.40 and if like me, you&#8217;re in a wet and windy London apartment, it&#8217;ll alleviate those Autumn blues by transporting you to a beach paradise, if only for 4 minutes:</p>
<p><object width="100%" height="81" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F20758498" /><embed width="100%" height="81" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F20758498" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object>  <span><a href="http://soundcloud.com/themagician/wolf-gang-stay-and-defend-the">Wolf Gang &#8220;Stay And Defend&#8221; (The Magician &#8216;Caribbean Disco&#8217; Remix)</a> by <a href="http://soundcloud.com/themagician">TheMagician</a></span></p>
<p>Moving on to something quite a bit harder, the new <a href="http://soundcloud.com/crackboymusic/">Crackboy</a> EP on <a href="http://soundcloud.com/imacliche/sets/crackboy-something-for">Cliche</a> is definitely worth a look. &#8216;Something For&#8217; is a dirty slab of sample driven electro-house that is guaranteed to go off on the dancefloor:</p>
<p><object width="100%" height="81" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F27487492" /><embed width="100%" height="81" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F27487492" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object> <a href="http://soundcloud.com/imacliche/crackboy-something-for">Crackboy &#8211; Something For</a>  [<a href="http://www.beatport.com/release/something-for-ep/680703">Buy it on Beatport</a>]</p>
<p><a href="http://soundcloud.com/kink">KiNK</a>&#8216;s most recent remix for <a href="http://soundcloud.com/bordello/">Gingy &amp; Bordello</a> is a frenetic piece of 303-driven electro-house and one of the biggest tunes I&#8217;ve heard all year. This is a guaranteed destroyer of minds and dancefloors, and is out now on <a href="http://www.planet-turbo.com/">Turbo</a> sub-label, Twin Turbo:</p>
<p><object width="100%" height="81" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F27886021" /><embed width="100%" height="81" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F27886021" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object> <a href="http://soundcloud.com/proxychen/gingy-bordello-body-acid-kinks">Gingy &amp; Bordello &#8211; Body Acid (KiNK&#8217;s on Acid Remix)</a> [<a href="http://www.beatport.com/release/twin-turbo-004-body-acid/827331">Buy it on Beatport</a>]</p>
<p>Since Troy Kurtz threw up &#8216;Surph&#8217; in last week&#8217;s <a href="http://gottadancedirty.com/2011/11/24/dirt-54/">Dirt 54</a>, I&#8217;ve been giving a lot of play to <a href="http://soundcloud.com/rustie">Rustie</a>&#8216;s new album. Huge fan of the record as a whole, and can&#8217;t get enough of this:</p>
<p><object width="100%" height="81" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F22714830" /><embed width="100%" height="81" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F22714830" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object> <a href="http://soundcloud.com/rustie/ultra-thizz">Rustie &#8211; Ultra Thizz (taken from Glass Swords)</a> by <a href="http://soundcloud.com/rustie">Rustie</a> [<a href="http://www.beatport.com/release/ultra-thizz/649827">Buy it on Beatport</a>]</p>

To ring in the last month of the year, we have The Dirt #55 that should be on repeat throughout your weekend. Grab our all of our picks in the .zips below, then catch commentary and GDD™ exclusives after the jump!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?zzeua3gzzu6b6zm" >SweetFA&#8217;s .zip (3 tracks)</a><br />
<a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?q68bboh3rb18nop" >Toks&#8217;.zip (6 tracks)</a></p>
<p><span id="more-16858"></span></p>
<p><strong>Sweet FA&#8217;s picks:</strong></p>
<p>Kicking things off with two slow burners, the first by a rising Chicago house producer <a href="http://soundcloud.com/savile/">Savile</a>, who&#8217;s set to release his next EP via <a href="http://soundcloud.com/urulu">Urulu</a>&#8216;s new <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Amadeus/258774557470554">Amadeus</a> imprint. Here&#8217;s a remix of <a href="http://soundcloud.com/monarchysound">Monarchy</a> that Savile&#8217;s giving away on his soundcloud:</p>
<p><object width="100%" height="81" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F27750673" /><embed width="100%" height="81" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F27750673" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object> <span><a href="http://soundcloud.com/savile/monarchy-gold-in-the-fire">Monarchy &#8211; Gold In The Fire (Savile&#8217;s Falling Up Mix)</a></span></p>
<p>UK&#8217;s <a href="http://soundcloud.com/hallsofclassic">Halls of Classic</a> is another young up and coming producer, set to release his &#8216;Freedom/Failure To Launch&#8217; double A-side on <a href="http://www.metamimetic.com">Metamimetic</a> in 2 weeks time. In the lead up to the release, our pals at Meta are giving away B-side &#8217;201&#8242; for free via their <a href="http://soundcloud.com/metamimetic">soundcloud</a>:</p>
<p><object width="100%" height="81" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F28885425" /><embed width="100%" height="81" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F28885425" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object><span><a href="http://soundcloud.com/metamimetic/halls-of-classic-201">Halls Of Classic &#8211; 201</a> </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>GDD Exclusive:</strong></span><br />
Today <a href="http://soundcloud.com/themagician/">The Magician</a> sent over his new remix for London indie-popster <a href="http://wolf-gang.co.uk/">Wolf Gang</a>. The track will feature on Wolf Gang&#8217;s new EP entitled &#8216;Stay and Defend&#8217;, and sees the original pared back and given a tropical makeover. The track kicks in proper around 1.40 and if like me, you&#8217;re in a wet and windy London apartment, it&#8217;ll alleviate those Autumn blues by transporting you to a beach paradise, if only for 4 minutes:</p>
<p><object width="100%" height="81" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F20758498" /><embed width="100%" height="81" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F20758498" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object>  <span><a href="http://soundcloud.com/themagician/wolf-gang-stay-and-defend-the">Wolf Gang &#8220;Stay And Defend&#8221; (The Magician &#8216;Caribbean Disco&#8217; Remix)</a> by <a href="http://soundcloud.com/themagician">TheMagician</a></span></p>
<p>Moving on to something quite a bit harder, the new <a href="http://soundcloud.com/crackboymusic/">Crackboy</a> EP on <a href="http://soundcloud.com/imacliche/sets/crackboy-something-for">Cliche</a> is definitely worth a look. &#8216;Something For&#8217; is a dirty slab of sample driven electro-house that is guaranteed to go off on the dancefloor:</p>
<p><object width="100%" height="81" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F27487492" /><embed width="100%" height="81" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F27487492" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object> <a href="http://soundcloud.com/imacliche/crackboy-something-for">Crackboy &#8211; Something For</a>  [<a href="http://www.beatport.com/release/something-for-ep/680703">Buy it on Beatport</a>]</p>
<p><a href="http://soundcloud.com/kink">KiNK</a>&#8216;s most recent remix for <a href="http://soundcloud.com/bordello/">Gingy &amp; Bordello</a> is a frenetic piece of 303-driven electro-house and one of the biggest tunes I&#8217;ve heard all year. This is a guaranteed destroyer of minds and dancefloors, and is out now on <a href="http://www.planet-turbo.com/">Turbo</a> sub-label, Twin Turbo:</p>
<p><object width="100%" height="81" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F27886021" /><embed width="100%" height="81" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F27886021" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object> <a href="http://soundcloud.com/proxychen/gingy-bordello-body-acid-kinks">Gingy &amp; Bordello &#8211; Body Acid (KiNK&#8217;s on Acid Remix)</a> [<a href="http://www.beatport.com/release/twin-turbo-004-body-acid/827331">Buy it on Beatport</a>]</p>
<p>Since Troy Kurtz threw up &#8216;Surph&#8217; in last week&#8217;s <a href="http://gottadancedirty.com/2011/11/24/dirt-54/">Dirt 54</a>, I&#8217;ve been giving a lot of play to <a href="http://soundcloud.com/rustie">Rustie</a>&#8216;s new album. Huge fan of the record as a whole, and can&#8217;t get enough of this:</p>
<p><object width="100%" height="81" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F22714830" /><embed width="100%" height="81" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F22714830" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object> <a href="http://soundcloud.com/rustie/ultra-thizz">Rustie &#8211; Ultra Thizz (taken from Glass Swords)</a> by <a href="http://soundcloud.com/rustie">Rustie</a> [<a href="http://www.beatport.com/release/ultra-thizz/649827">Buy it on Beatport</a>]</p>

<p>Fresh off conquering the 50-date sold-out Mothership Tour, John Dadzie aka 12th Planet has returned home to Los Angeles to host the <strong>SMOG 5 Year Anniversary</strong> event. The lineup, topped by dubstep don <a href="https://www.facebook.com/skream">Skream</a>, is massive, filled with the entire SMOG label roster as well as secret guests that are sure to make this an event for the record books.</p>
<p><span style="color: #fad860;">The real treat will be a special debut screening of <strong><em>12th Planet: A Documentary</em></strong>. Directed by creative visionary and esteemed LMU-film graduate <a href="http://www.facebook.com/sheismollie?ref=ts">Mollie Tarlow</a>, the film takes you over almost 2 years of the wild ride of 12th Planet on tour and subsequently the rising emergence of dubstep in America. It also features scenes from the top music festivals across the nation and appearances by some of the biggest names in dance music.</span></p>
<p><em>&#8220;<a href="http://smogrecords.com/">SMOG</a>, the dubstep record label that changed the American dubstep game (you could say even helped CREATE it), is celebrating its fifth year of existence, and it will be the birthday celebration to end all. Only five years ago, SMOG chiefs John Dadzie, Danny Johnson (head of <a href="http://mediacontender.com/">Media Contender</a>), and Drew Best ganged together in an effort to bring a new genre of music they felt so passionately about to the states. I think that I can speak for each of them when I say NOBODY knew that dubstep, the music few people knew about and even fewer were creating, would become what it is today. It’s been an incredibly exciting ride for everybody involved, and all along SMOG has been there shining the best light on one of the biggest rising genres in the music world today.&#8221; <strong>-  Laura D,</strong> <strong>Media Contender</strong></em></p>

<p>It&#8217;s the day before Thanksgiving and things are looking great as we enter into the holiday season. I have a new trailer for Porter Robinson&#8217;s mini-documentary, info on Magnetic Man&#8217;s next album, Aus music invading Fabric, M83 on Fallon, and the Mixmag drugs survey, all conveniently packed into today&#8217;s GDD™ Morning Update. Please enjoy after the jump.</p>

<h3><strong>Porter Robinson&#8217;s Mini-Documentary Trailer</strong></h3>
<p><iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/NVsOd3Mj0to?rel=0" frameborder="0" width="460" height="315"></iframe><br />
<em>Filmed over the course of Tiësto’s mammoth College Invasion tour through multiple cities and some insane impromptu after parties, Porter Robinson demonstrates exactly why he is one of the hottest names in electronic music. Swamped and chased by fans, partying with the likes of Diplo and Dada Life and wowing crowds throughout the country – there is no better way to experience life on the road with one of dance music’s youngest stars.</em></p>
<p>Having been handpicked by Tiësto himself off the back of his enormous debut EP ‘Spitfire’ on Skrillex’s OWSLA label, 19 year-old Porter packed his bags and hit the road for a month, wowing crowds as he went. A month and a half on, and the closing stages of the epic tour have been compiled into a stunning 10-minute documentary!</p>
<p>Filmed as the tour drew to a close in San Diego, Davis, Fresno, Avila Beach, Santa Barbara and LA &#8211; get ready to witness footage of the electronic phenomenon that is Porter Robinson!</p>
<p>The full documentary will be unveiled on Wednesday 30th November, but for now, sit back and get ready for a complete audio-visual teaser treat, backed by his server crashing EP ‘Spitfire’.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>New Magnetic Man Album Early Next Year</strong></h3>
<p><a href="http://gottadancedirty.com/2011/11/23/gdd%E2%84%A2-morning-update-porter-robinson-magnetic-man-aus-music-m83-mixmag-drugs-survey/19bb3_1464691-1/" rel="attachment wp-att-16534"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16534" title="magnetic man" src="http://gottadancedirty.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/19bb3_1464691-1-e1322070834885.jpg" alt="" width="460" height="246" /></a></p>
<p><em>Benga has revealed on his Facebook that we can expect a new Magnetic Man album early next year.</em></p>
<p><em>This will, no doubt, come as welcome news to fans who caught the dub-step pioneers for one of their much-admired Parklife performances earlier this year. This is also good news for Summafieldayze, Summadayze and Field Day attendees, who might get treated to some of the new material when Skream and Benga head our way this summer for their festival tour.</em></p>
<p><em>Benga also told fans he’s working on his own solo album, and that he “can’t wait to give a drop date”.</em></p>
<p><em>So what can expect from the new material? Answering questions from his fans on Facebook, Benga gave a few things away. When asked where he sees his sound going in the next few years, Benga responded “I don’t know, things are changing so fast at the moment, it’ll still be my original twist to things, I could never leave that behind”. As for if he’ll ever start producing songs like his early material again, the Croydon native answered “Maybe one day! It’s all about experimenting”.</em></p>
<p><em>Questions Benga chose not to answer included “What is the purpose of life?” “Can you smoke with me..?” and “Can you read minds?” We can only wonder.</em></p>

<h3><strong>Aus Music Take Over Fabric</strong></h3>
<p><a href="http://gottadancedirty.com/2011/11/23/gdd%E2%84%A2-morning-update-porter-robinson-magnetic-man-aus-music-m83-mixmag-drugs-survey/aus-logo/" rel="attachment wp-att-16535"><img class="alignnone size-large wp-image-16535" title="aus music" src="http://gottadancedirty.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/aus-logo-1024x682.png" alt="" width="460" height="306" /></a></p>
<p><em>Will Saul&#8217;s <a href="http://www.beatport.com/label/aus-music/2806">Aus Music</a> label takes over room 2 at Fabric this weekend.</em></p>
<p><em>Saturday November 26 will see the man himself step up alongside Joy Orbison, George Fitzgerald, Lee Jones and Vakula for an evening of sounds that will see the deep house and techno imprint make its mark on the London venue.</em></p>
<p><em>Aus Music has come to the fore as the place to go for deep underground dance sounds. Recent releases by Midland, SCB and all of the producers playing on Saturday have made it one of the labels to watch during 2011.</em></p>
<p><em>Also playing across the stages at Fabric will be Craig Richards, Terry Francis and Lee Burridge. For all information and tickets, click <a href="http://www.fabriclondon.com/club/listings">here</a>.</em></p>

<h3><strong>M83&#8242;s &#8216;Midnight City&#8217; on &#8216;Fallon&#8217;</strong></h3>
<p><iframe id="NBC Video Widget" src="http://www.nbc.com/assets/video/widget/widget.html?vid=1369921" frameborder="0" width="460" height="347"></iframe><br />
<em>Network television got a heady rush of electronic pop on Monday night, as M83 performed on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon (after the Roots welcomed Michele Bachmann to the sounds of Fishbone&#8217;s &#8220;Lyin&#8217; Ass Bitch,&#8221; that is). Anthony Gonzalez and his band gave wee-hours watchers a tour of &#8220;Midnight City,&#8221; a highlight from the French keyboard-sorcerer&#8217;s latest, Hurry Up, We&#8217;re Dreaming. (Those unfamiliar might&#8217;ve recognized the song&#8217;s bird-like synth call from a recent Victoria Secret TV commercial). At the song&#8217;s climactic moment, a bombastic saxophone solo continued the instrument&#8217;s long, smooth return — from last year&#8217;s Deerhunter record (&#8220;Next year everyone&#8217;s gonna have a saxophone on their record because saxophones are just cool,&#8221; Bradford Cox said at the time) to Lady Gaga&#8217;s &#8220;The Edge of Glory&#8221; to Foster the People&#8217;s bizarre Kenny G cosign. &#8220;That&#8217;s how you do it,&#8221; host Jimmy Fallon said afterward, as if addressing all the other kids with their unnecessary horn-blowing. The sax enters at 3:35.</em></p>

<h3><strong>Mixmag&#8217;s Drugs Survey </strong></h3>
<p><a href="http://gottadancedirty.com/2011/11/23/gdd%E2%84%A2-morning-update-porter-robinson-magnetic-man-aus-music-m83-mixmag-drugs-survey/hotbox_drugstory_620x413/" rel="attachment wp-att-16537"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16537" title="mixmag drugs survey 2012" src="http://gottadancedirty.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/hotbox_drugstory_620x413-e1322071241259.jpg" alt="" width="460" height="306" /></a></p>
<p><em><em>Mixmag</em> Drugs Survey 2012 is now live. This year we are working for the first time in partnership with <em>The Guardian</em> to produce the biggest – and first truly global – survey of drug use amongst young people and clubbers ever conducted. It takes about 10-20 minutes to fill in, is completely anonymous and by being part of it, you could help change the world.</em></p>
<p>That’s because the <em>Mixmag</em> survey is where the world goes to find out real peoples’ attitudes to and experience of drugs, and the medical, social and law enforcement consequences of drug use. The survey has been used by doctors, academics, and even governments across the planet to understand drug trends, to influence policy and to inform their decisions.</p>
<p>The analysis is performed by a team of doctors and scientists, using the highest professional research standards, to get to the real truth about drugs all around the world.</p>
<p>The <em>Mixmag</em> Drugs Survey, in partnership with <em>The Guardian</em>, is now live at <a title="www.globaldrugsurvey.com/mixmag2012" href="http://www.globaldrugsurvey.com/mixmag2012">www.globaldrugsurvey.com/mixmag2012</a>.</p>
<p>Take a look at last year&#8217;s results&#8230; and find out what clubland is really on.</p>

<p><em><strong><span style="color: #99cc00;">TK:</span></strong></em> My British pal <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/sweetfa" >SweetFA</a> and <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/troykurtz" >myself</a> have been given the honor to dish out to you the 38th installment of <em>THE DIRT</em>, and we couldn&#8217;t be giddier if we tried. You&#8217;ll find that I take a trip through history and shell out some of my all-time favorite garage/funkybass/dubstep tunes from the past that might have slipped under your guard, while my UK cohort gets you up to speed on the all the big house records that are just dying to become staples in your iTunes library. We hope you enjoy listening as much as we did compiling.</p>
<p>• <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?ji3va1uxou3noce" >Bran Van 3000 &#8211; Astounded (MJ Cole Mix)<br />
</a><em><span style="color: #99cc00;"><a href="http://soundcloud.com/mj-cole" >MJ Cole</a> has been one of my favorite producers ever since I first got into EDM. As a pioneer of of the 2-step and  UK garage scenes, he&#8217;s been putting out amazing records for well over a decade. This remix dates back to 2001, and I still regard it as one of the grooviest tunes in my collection.</span></em></p>
<p>• <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?g31t2haplo1yhu4" >Lemonade &#8211; Lifted (Hackman Remix)<br />
</a><em><span style="color: #99cc00;">Riding on the coattails of MJ Cole comes the new generation of funky producers, and I rate <a href="http://soundcloud.com/hackman" >Hackman</a> as one of my favorite new artists. Last summer he burst onto the radar with his &#8216;<a href="http://boomkat.com/vinyl/309226-hackman-more-than-ever-ep" >More Than Ever</a>&#8216; EP, and followed it up with his latest EP which came out this month called &#8216;<a href="http://boomkat.com/downloads/414809-hackman-close-ep" >Close</a>&#8216;, which I highly recommend.</span></em></p>
<p>• <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?sl2g8pv60ov1f2n" >Joker &amp; Jakes &#8211; 3k Lane (L-Vis 1990 Dubble Step Edit)<br />
</a><em><span style="color: #99cc00;">If you&#8217;ve recently caught the dubstep bug a la Skrillacks, then you might not have heard of the monumental smash that was &#8216;<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHe4T0TtDAo" >3k Lane</a>&#8216;. Prior to the era of &#8216;Scary Sprites&#8217;, tunes like this used to be the highlight of bass nights. <a href="http://nightslugs.net/" >Night Slugs</a> hotshot <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/l-vis1990" >L-Vis 1990</a> put out a few of these &#8216;Dubble Step Edits&#8217; a few years ago that are way cool. Hunt for the other ones, you won&#8217;t be disappointed.</span></em></p>
<p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?imy9txtfigxdbsv" ></a></p>
<p>• <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?imy9txtfigxdbsv" >A1 Bassline &amp; Kavsrave &#8211; Lucky Charms<br />
</a><em><span style="color: #99cc00;">I&#8217;ve always loved tracks at the 130 bpm range that have a half-time dubstep bit to them. This track has been a staple in my bassy sets ever since it came out in &#8217;09 and still sounds current. If you haven&#8217;t copped A1 Bassline&#8217;s &#8216;Shock Headed&#8217; EP, do so immediately (<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1K5Wl_MM9Q" >Shock Headed</a> is an 808 MONSTER).</span></em></p>
<p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?a1zfamq3na0ali6" ></a></p>
<p>• <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?a1zfamq3na0ali6" >Zomby &#8211; Rumours &amp; Revelations<br />
</a><em><span style="color: #99cc00;">I found this tune wedged at the end of Hervé&#8217;s &#8216;<a href="http://www.discogs.com/Herv%C3%A9-Ghetto-Bass/release/1656554" >Ghetto Bass</a>&#8216; comp and have been in love ever since. <a href="http://www.myspace.com/zombyproductions" >Zomby</a> recently put out his second album called &#8216;<a href="http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2011/07/album-review-zombys-dedication.html" >Dedication</a>&#8216; that is top notch.</span></em></p>
<p>• <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?qpg1alfw3yxshcc" >Skream &#8211; Rutten<br />
</a><em><span style="color: #99cc00;">I&#8217;ll close with one of my all-time favorite <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/i_skream" >Skream</a> joints. The combination of woodwinds + low-end sub-bass in this late-night serenade makes certain parts of my body tingle that I don&#8217;t need to expand upon. I also have to give a big congratulations to Oliver and his missus on their recent son!</span></em></p>
<p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?ccrz5c41eru20pm" ><strong>TK &#8211; The Dirt #38 Part 1 Zip</strong></a></p>
<p><span style="color: #ffcc00;"><em><strong>FA:</strong></em> </span>Striking a balance with Troy&#8217;s dutty selection, I&#8217;ve opted for the housey and techier stuff. It&#8217;s a selection of some of the freshest tunes out there, together with a few surprises from my personal stash! It goes without saying, all are tunes I&#8217;m digging a lot at the moment. Dance on, lads and ladies&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/file/dlbb2n7bbp6rjuq/Rally%20Racquet%20Club%20(Oliver%20$%20Remix).mp3">• Homework &#8211; Rally Racquet Club (Oliver $ Remix)</a> [<a href="http://www.beatport.com/track/rally-racquet-club-oliver-money-remix/1984120">Beatport</a>] <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">√+</span></strong><br />
<em><span style="color: #ffcc00;"> Kicking off with something easy: a nice tech-house groover from <a href="http://www.beatport.com/track/rally-racquet-club-oliver-money-remix/1984120">Oliver Dollar</a> with some nifty phaser work.</span></em></p>
<p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?j3wth07ta8u49w9">• Ray Foxx &#8211; The Trumpeter (Original Mix)</a> [<a href="http://www.beatport.com/release/the-trumpeter/379297">Beatport</a>] <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">√+</span></strong><br />
<em><span style="color: #ffcc00;"> This tune dropped on <a href="http://www.defected.com/">Defected</a> last month and I can’t get enough of it. Solo trumpet cuts and sick percussion. Summery, feel good house vibes, and it&#8217;s a monster of a tune. Really big.</span></em></p>
<p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/file/he987oe1ddajlg8/Homecoming%20(Zedex%20Data-Loss%20Remix).mp3">• Benzie &#8211; Homecoming (Zedex Data-Loss Remix)</a><br />
<em><span style="color: #ffcc00;"> Been giving<a href="http://www.metamimetic.com/zedex/"> Zedex</a>’s new Zulu X-Ray EP play for the past few weeks, but decided to buck the trend and see what else they had to offer. The rhythm changes and synth work on this track are fire.</span></em></p>
<p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?cp9bh1nj6a99zqz">• Cirez D &#8211; The Tumble (Original Mix)</a> [<a href="http://www.beatport.com/release/the-tumble-exit/251680">Beatport</a>] <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">√+</span></strong><br />
<em><span style="color: #ffcc00;"> This tune by <a href="http://ericprydz.tv/">Eric Prydz</a>’s Cirez D alias has been a set staple of mine for about 9 months. It features the nastiest rolling bassline I’ve heard to date. Heavy.</span></em></p>
<p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/file/7g7i5w38q5w229z/Chimes%20(Younger%20Than%20Me%20Remix).mp3">• Punks Jump Up &#8211; Chimes (Younger Than Me Remix)</a> <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">√+</span></strong><br />
<em><span style="color: #ffcc00;"> I got sent the Younger Than Me remix of the new <a href="http://www.punksjumpup.co.uk/">Punks Jump Up</a> tune this week. Admittedly I wasn’t mad on it at first, but now I’m a fan &#8211; it’s a grower and well worthy of some Dirty action with it&#8217;s overdriven Italo bassline and use of cow-bells.</span></em></p>
<p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?9oiora1iusv31xe">• Alex Gopher &#8211; Invasion (Etienne de Crecy Edit)</a> [<a href="http://www.beatport.com/release/invasion-virages/388684">Beatport</a>] <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">√+</span></strong><br />
<em><span style="color: #ffcc00;"> If you haven&#8217;t cottoned on to it yet, be sure to check out <a href="http://www.myspace.com/etiennedecrecy">Etienne de Crecy</a>’s heavy edit of the new <a href="http://www.myspace.com/alexgopher">Alex Gopher</a> track. It&#8217;s a banger for sure.</span></em></p>

Download: R.A. 259 - Skream [via Resident Advisor]

Benga - Smack Your Bitch Up
Redlight vs P Money - Left The Source - DUB
Skream - Indistinct - DUB
Donaeo - Swagger (Skreamix)
Skream vs Rye Rye - BANGBOX - DUB
