SUPER SUPER – SUAVE EP (REMIXES)

01 13 2012

Traktor Records released a monster remix package today for German duo SUPER SUPER off their SUAVE EP.  The release features the (2) tracks ‘Babydaddy’ and ‘Suave’ remixes by Shameboy, Sharkslayer, Planisfear, D-R-U-N-K (aka Motor of Dim Mak), Konstrict and The Stereo Youth. A well rounded assortment of remixes, you’ll find a mixture of bleeps, booms and bass, with a dash of deep house for good measure. Check out the EP teaser mix below – and my personal fav from UK-based Planisfear (look out for this guy!) executing a peak-time madman in his remix of ‘Babydaddy.’

Klipar – imperial March (MYD Remix)

12 28 2010

One of Club Cheval’s best horses in the stable, the incredible MYD, remixes ‘Klipar – Imperial March’ (NBR003) and this is so good that No Brainer’s  art director just had to ‘remix’ the original video. this track has remixes by the likes of Lewis Cancut, Sharkslayer and gingy.

No Brainer is a label run by malente

to keep your taste buds titillating with freshness, here is a brand new 60 minute mix by No Brainers label owner himself, Malente.

Triple Billin

12 07 2010

The latest from Top Billin… First up is the housiest thing I’ve from TB in a while, it’s a a track off of Adam Bozzetto‘s Distro Nox EP called “I Want To Be With Two”. Next is the LOL Boys‘ dramatic rework of Camo UFOs “Foundation Style”, from D&B to UK Funky in one fell swoop. That one’s off of the UFOs’ The Kool & Deadly EP. Third in line is a dub of Sharkslayer‘s “Hammerhead”, which is kind of a “minimal tribal banger” of sorts, very interesting. Last but not least is a heads up to give Sam Tiba & Spoek Mathambo‘s Burning EP a run through, as the instrumental is quite smooth.

EMPERATRON

11 02 2010

EMPERATRON is a three-piece dj/producer collective formed in early 2009 in Helsinki, Finland. The trio consists of Duponddupont, Juden and Plus de Massiff who saturate house music with bass and they’re credited with some of the craziest parties in Helsinki for doing just that. Never mind the venues were over capacity, people came to party and Emperatron simply provided the appropriate answer. They’ve since been played massive gigs in Paris, an intense parties in Berlin, St. Petersburg so expect more to come from these bass monsters.

King Riddim is their first EP and features remixes from SHARKSLAYER and a Parisian new-comer, Pressure. I’m all about the original mix though.

FOREIGNER + SPECIMAN A

09 12 2010

I grew up with two sisters who were were both submerged in 80s glam rock and metal and even though both of them were much older than me, they influenced me much more than they ever knew. This tune is for them.

SPECIMEN A take Foreigner’s hit and wobble the eff out if it. They drop an exclusive free download of their eagerly awaited dubstep bomb ‘Cold As Ice’, a monster cover of Foreigner’s 80′s classic given a nasty bassline makeover 2010 style. This one drops hard like the titanic!

MP3: Foreigner – Cold As Ice (Specimen A remix)

You may should consider looking at Speciemen A’s back catalogue too. In principle, I’m against tunes that talk about djing because in general, these things lack substance, but this tune is well, deadly, which is exactly why I picked it up from beatport a couple months ago.

Last year, SHARKSLAYER remixed a bootleg just as deadly, with a different bpm.

The Agenda – A Sharkslayer Remix

09 02 2010

what do you get when you mix a rugged reggae voice with an up tempo house track? A sharkslayer remix seems to be the result. with prominent use of instruments such as the violin and some cool distortions this makes for a fun and easy ‘riddim’.

Egyptrixx – Phones (Sharkslayer vip) + Sharkslayer Summer Mix

06 28 2010

Our Finnish brothers released their annual summer mix and it’s huge. Especially nice to see that they picked up the Woo Banger remix of the Legobeat track “Dog, Owl, Bag”!

Sharkslayer also remixed this mighty track from one of the coolest dudes around Egyptrixx. He is coming to Malmö on friday and this is a nice little something to get you going! Sharkslayer constantly evolves and pushes their limits another step. We get a Discobelle VIP mix that is both epic, funky and ravey.

Boxes…

06 26 2010
So this summer I’m living in a cardboard box. Fortunately it’s not your local alley way box next to the cash point, but it’s definitely a box of sorts, actually it’s several boxes. Moving house is this summer’s grand design. Where alas, I leave my country pastures to be ushered into the swirl of the city, cashing in my wellies for a fresh pair of trainers, while showing you Londoners how you really rock a Barbour. However, amidst the chuckle brother boxing and coxing, I have been subjected to the rather disconcerting fact, that my well tweaked ego fits into a rather small selection of battered boxes from Sainsburys. So feeling the need to resolve this inadequacy, I turn to the ‘Pelski Inbox’ for moral support. To my pleasure, this toy box is more than full, but the best thing about this box is your never sure what’s in it. Here’s what I found...

Breaking their dastardly shackles of nervous fidget and irate dubstep in 2007, the classically trained Oxford duo ‘Cubiq’ found their calling in the deeper sentiments of minimal techno and house music. Their sound recalls the engineering of Piemont, James Holden and Efdemin, as we drift through their stark landscapes of irritated spoken word, and glitchy bass warble. Somebody sign them please.

Cubiq - BOR-DOM

Cubiq - Kill Your Examiner

Cubiq - No Battery

Picturehouse feat. Mr ShaoDow - Rolling Blackouts (Cubiq's 'English Orphan' Remix)

I was chatting about 'Deebs' a few weeks back, and it’s great to hear that both ‘Dollop’ and his new track ‘Sir D’ will be getting signed to a young French label called ‘Get Flavor Records’. ‘Into Orbit’ is as it sounds, a spacey affair, but it sure as hell has no problems to report to Houston. Keep an eye on our future player from Ontario.

Deebs - Into Orbit

Brazilian based ‘DJ Mattiello’ sent me this organ bubbling funk number the other day. Real placid old school vibes generate the glow here, taking us on a transatlantic trip to his hometown and back. He’s a regular spinner back home, so catch him at Toy Lounge, Inferno Club and Milo Garage if you can.

DJ Mattiello - Groovin' Time

Here we have some flashback frequencies that mark the happier heights of the old school 90’s techno and hardcore scene. It’s no secret that the likes of DJ Funk, CJ Bolland, Knifehandchop, Phuture 303 and Kenny Dope, were swinging on the backseats in this masterclass. These Biarritz based boys are responsible for both the ‘Niterockets’ and ‘L&O’ projects, and have currently been working on a new ghetto-tech project with 'DJ Skillz'.

Niterockets - Dangerous Summer Love (Beach Version)

Niterockets - The Awakening

L&O - New York 3000

The ‘Fuck House’ family bring us a spacey, progressive Balearic number from their new signing ‘Deporto’. ‘Musiq Electronica’ featured on their Miami Sampler, while ‘Astral Glide’ boasts several highly innovative remixes, most notably by label owner Robin L.E.O aka ‘London Electric Orchestra’. Both tracks come with strong hints of poolside basking, making for some serious summer shoegazeing.

Deporto - Astral Glide

Deporto - Musiq Electronica (London Electric Orchestra Mix)

The no shame 'Top Billin’ boys lay their Benjamins right under Bill Whither’s nose, ripping up his motown classic ‘Who Is He, And What Is He To You?’ As much as I love these funked out bootlegs, ‘Something in my heart and in your eye’, tells me that we all know that these classic hey-day rip offs, might just be passing us by a little too frequently these days.

Sharkslayer - Who Is He?

This one hit the blogs a while back from the Jackmode boys. However Louis’ re-rub seems particularly fitting at the moment, as we while away our troubles in the summer sun. Keep an eye on ‘What! What! Records’ playground tactics, as the ‘Monkey Safari’ boys keep it fresh with their monkey bar beats.
