Rihanna – Rude Boy (DVW Remix)

03 09 2010

Let it be known that I really super honestly enjoy Rihanna's Rude Boy. I think it's a great pop song, and the lyrics, well, whew...we sweat a little more with each repeated listen.

With that said, anytime I really dig a more mainstreamed pop tune, on I go, searching for a remix or general fix to supplement what's deemed commercial. No, I don't intend to replace my love for the original, but rather than annoy my beastly self by repeated listenings of the same track over and over, I like to freshen it up with a fine rework.

Ok, that was a lot of back story. Let's just scroll and stroll through DVW's remix of Rude Boy...which falls somewhere between a Baltimore juke mix and a strict vocal edit.

We love it.

We’ve caught a ton of rad acts there over the past few months, and this week’s soiree promises to be equally rad.

Pantha Du Prince x Panda Bear x Four Tet

03 09 2010

Pic by Alberto Seveso

Pantha Du Prince makes some of the smoothest techno we know, Panda Bear makes alot of experimental stuff with Animal Collective and Four Tet is just brilliant. Here we get them all together with the Four Tet remix of the track “Stick To My Side” (taken off the recently released Pantha Du Prince album “Black Noise”). The result of the threesome is a vibrant and pulsating techno tune that makes us quite happy.

Grand Hotel

03 09 2010

Got some tunes in our mailbox today, this ditty comes courtesy of our friend Aleks over at Discodust.

Grand Hotel is a new London based label dedicated to electro, techno and breaks combined with a party series at both Fabric and Matter, acting as a platform for both emerging artists and established artists, such as Plump DJs.

The first release from the label is called “Get A Grip” (releasedate is March 22nd) and it comes from a yet unknown three piece electro act called Dirty Super Car. The track sports a mesmerizing Chaka Khan vocal sample, we received the slamming electro-house remix by Brisbane’s The Loops Of Fury for all you Discobelle readers.

BONUS: The launch of the labels residency at Matter will take place on March 19th. The launch night will feature an all-star line up including live performances from Vitalic (V Mirror Show Live) and The Japanese Popstars, plus with DJ support from Plump DJs and Ed Banger favourite Feadz. Room 2 will be hosted by Kiss FM’s Joe Ransom alongside very special guests Joe Goddard (Hot Chip), Duke Dumont, Riva Starr and Oliver $. Big night indeed!

Kid Sister – Daydreaming [Douster and Style of Eye Remixes]

03 09 2010

Late last month, I dropped some hot info that Chicagoan emceestress, Kid Sister, would be hitting us with a new single from her debut album, Ultraviolet. Daydreaming, the Cee-lo featured softer jam with a backhanded slap of wow, easily went down as a highlight from her freshman offering.

Now with the track getting a proper single release on April 19 via Asylum, I’m super plussed non-fussed to give you additional remixes from two massive mixers. Last we checked in, Jakwob was getting all sorts of wobbly with his fix of the killer original.

Now, Douster, the Argentinian wonderboy spins us a minimalistic-jukey jaunt that plays up Kid Sis’ Chicago early 90’s house roots. Up next to bat is Style of Eye from Sweden. With a 7+ minute tour through Cee and Sis’ vocals, he takes the song on an up-and-down jump and roll of a rad time.

Hey! Both of these are free below. Awesome.
