MP3: Kanye West – “Chain Heavy” (Q Tip Produced) mp3

Kanye West, Talib Kweli and Consequence rap over a scintillating Q-Tip beat on “Chain Heavy,” the newest G.O.O.D. Friday cut. It’s absence on Ye’s new LP, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is questionable to say the least; though it definitely is not the only G.O.O.D. Friday track that should have made the album and didn’t (can you say “Lord Lord Lord” or “The Joy”?). Download “Chain Heavy”:

Kanye’s latest Good Friday joint, featuring Talib Kweli + Consequence, with Q-Tip absolutely nailing the beat. Feel like this one had no business being left off the record (almost makes up for this):

Here is “The Good Life,” the new single from Chiddy Bang’s debut album, The Swelly Life out sometime in 2011. The jam was produced by Pharrell from N.E.R.D and Chiddy Bang’s own Xaphoon Jones; and will also be included in The Preview EP, out Oct0ber 12. Hear the track below:

“The Good Life” is the second major, full-scale collaboration of Chiddy Bang’s short career. The first being their track with The Roots’ legendary MC, Black Thought on “Slow Down”. Next up? A Tribe Called Quest’s on a “fierce dance-floor friendly dubstep” jam called “Here We Go”. Bring it, Chiddy.

Chiddy Bang Album Pushed Back to 2011, Mini-Album in October

Chiddy Bang Album Pushed Back to 2011, Mini Album in October mp3

Chiddy Bang’s debut album, The Swelly Life has officially been pushed back to early 2011. Earlier, the 19-year-old duo had mentioned a late Fall release. Well now, CB are releasing an eight track “mini-album” on October 11 aptly titled The Preview. Like Xaphoon put it, “The main purpose of this release is to give our fans some new music whilst we finish recording our debut album, Swelly Life. It’s called The Preview because it gives listeners a glimpse of what’s to come on Swelly“.

The Preview will include the best of Chiddy Bang’s earlier days — the MGMT-sampling “Opposite of Adults”, the Passion Pit-sampling “Truth” and the Sufjan Stevens-sampling “All Things Go”. The mini-album will also spawn a new single, “The Good Life”, which Xaphoon Jones produced with N.E.R.D’s Pharrell (!!). Then, Chiddy Bang will have hip hop legend on a “fierce dance-floor friendly dubstep” jam called “Here We Go”.

Like I said before, The Preview will be out October 11 on EMI. We don’t have any media from the new mini-album yet, so let’s remember the greatest Chiddy Bang track that didn’t make it to any of Chiddy Bang’s mixtapes and, presumably, their album — their -sampling “Because”. Chiddy just kills it but won’t clear the sample… come on , you’re harshing my buzz.

Mark Ronson & The Business INTL – Bang Bang Bang (U-Tern’s Disco Dub)

08 01 2010

BIG TUNE...BIG DUB FIX, courtesy of Vancouver's U-Tern. There's really no reason for you to quit on Mark Ronson & The Business INTL's Bang, Bang, Bang...real talk, it's a top-5 summer song for me, and hopefully you dig it just as much. But if you're feeling a slow disco rub, then jump in on the aforementioned remix below.

In other Ronson news, yes that is an image of Mr. Mark sitting in the stylists chair, because he's just recently gone platinum blonde. I scoped him out down at his Friday night EVR show, and can confirm, he looks equally dapper with the new tow-headed tresses.

In fact, BlackBook thought it was such a "story", that they followed him to the dye chair. Whilst in the midst of being shot for their September issue Martial Vivot, BlackBook's go-to stylist and proprietor of the sophisticated but unstuffy Martial Vivot Salon Pour Hommes salon, suggested Ronson go bleach-blonde at some point. Ronson was keen on the idea, and said he'd make an appointment to get it done when he returned from an upcoming trip, however when Vivot mentioned he could color him right then and there, Mark excitedly consented.

So they filmed it. And you can watch it now.

Mark Ronson – “Bang Bang Bang” (feat. Q-Tip, MNDR)

06 16 2010

Mark Ronson Bang Bang Bang (feat. Q Tip, MNDR) music videos

Receiving praise in equal measures for his work as a record producer and his uncanny ability to wear a suit, is coming back hard with Record Collection, his follow-up to 2007′s excellent Version. If “Bang Bang Bang” is any indication of what is to come, it is apparent that Ronson is taking a more accessible, danceable approach with his new album, dropping those enthralling horns sections that kept me coming back to Version.

Don’t be quick to judge though; “Bang Bang Bang” is delightfully catchy. sounds great emceeing a full-blown pop track and newcomer MNDR and her contributions to the track cannot and will not go unappreciated. More on her fantastic solo work later… but now, listen to “Bang Bang Bang”.

The single will be out in July, the album is expecting a September release date.

Mark Ronson & The Business INTL – Bang Bang Bang (new video!)

06 14 2010

Once again, let me stress...Mark Ronson is going to have album of the year cred flying all over your face in the place. Also fellow writers and friends, can we please acknowledge the correct titling of this project? It's Mark Ronson & The Business INTL, not "dudeman featuring this person, that person, my friend and yours..." Sure, individual tracks have a ton of guests, guys and gals on 'em, but c'mon, let's get it right and get it tight all together now! #endrant #ilikeaccuracy

Markronsonbang

Having already loved up on the single, Bang Bang Bang, which hosts MNDR and Q-Tip on the vocal stylings, Ronson's won over every playlist I'm creating for summertime soirees and such. Totally perfect in every way possible.

Now, there's visual radness to accompany the excellent song, and Mark's gone the Japanese interview show route via French dialogue, cut out lazer shapes and some dancing from kids that look cooler than most. Definitely enjoyable, highly entertaining, and there's even a nod to Nutella and JOhn McEnroe thrown in for good comedic measure.

Watch, and love, the clip below. Mark Ronson & The Business INTL's Bang Bang Bang will be out in a limited release 12" vinyl on July 11. Remixes come courtesy of Russ Chimes, Count & Sinden and SBTRKT. Pre-order here

Mark Ronson – Bang Bang Bang (ft. MNDR & Q-Tip)

06 13 2010
Took me a couple of listens but I finally figured out who MNDR (pseudonym of Amanda Warner) reminds me of on this track, it’s Missing Person’s lead singer, Dale Bozzio – check her  out here:  ”Walking in LA“.
So Mark Ronson (as in Grammy winner – produce of the year 2008 for Amy Winehouse’s, “Back to Black”) is set to release a new full length titled, “Record Collection”, from which this is the first single.  And damn, it’s good.   Great jam for summer with its breezy vibe and 80′s esque keyboards.   Mark gets help on this track from not only MNDR but also Q-TIP.  This is an automatic for my iPod.
