Sneaky Sound System – Really Want To See You Again (Azari & III Remix)

01 30 2012

Sneaky

Sneaky Sound System let slip an album in the late-late quarter of 2011 titled ‘From Here To Anywhere’.

The euphoric single “Really Want To See You Again” has not gotten a freaky-groove makeover courtesy of Canadian house-lords Azari & III.

From it’s busty drums and Chi-town acid elements there’s not much you can’t enjoy and although only in preview mode im staking this will be a dancefloor burner for the early am house-nauts.

There are some other jamsters on the EP with Funkagenda, Proxy and Kink getting silly but the A3 remix stands above!

GDD™ Exclusive Interview & Mix from Marseille!

10 19 2011

Marseille has been taking the Russian EDM scene by storm lately. The Mako Records prodigy has put out a flood of epic releases this year that have not only created a massive amount of buzz, but have also blurred the sometimes too rigid genre lines that exist in the world wide EDM scene. Championed by such acts as The Proxy and Noise Invaders, it is clear that Marseille isn’t going away anytime soon, so I was more than thrilled when he decided to grant me an interview and record an exclusive mix just for GDD!

GDD™: First off, thanks so much for doing this interview, I’m a huge fan.
M: Yeah!  Thanks a lot!

GDD™: How did living in a Russian provence influence you musically?
M: Personally, I don’t think Russia is interested in quality EDM stuff at the moment.  It’s too complicated to define the particular influence of Russia.  However, I can say that life in a Russian province has helped me to make something big.

GDD™: What gave you the idea to start a monthly mixtape?
M: I got this idea when I was making my first mixtape for Mako called the Otake Mix I really enjoyed the process and decided to release mixes on a monthly basis.  I also wanted to include a techno influence in each mix because at the moment I’m really into techno!

GDD™: You have produced everything from minimal techno to dubstep, your music has been described as “borederless,” what in particular has influenced you to be such a diverse musician?
M: It’s simple!  It’s just who I am! Lately though, I’ve been leaning towards a more techno and experimental sound.

GDD™: As the popularity of EDM soars, it seems like more genres are emerging every day. What in particular genre has caught your ear recently and why?
M: Techno…Good Techno!  But I love it all!

GDD™: What are your biggest influences? Why?
M: The seasons, especially Autumn! I love autumn, it’s my favorite time of year!  And I think hash as well : )

GDD™: With the recent influx of new technology, gaining access to the means to create music has never been more feasible, how do you think this has affected the EDM scene in particular? How has this effected you?
M: I’m not going to lie, it sometimes seems detrimental.  There is a lot of shit music.  Listeners are overloaded by this huge influx in the amount of the tracks being released.  It’s sometimes hard to remember which shit is good and which is not.  It’s effecting me as a listener as well, so I’m trying to only seek out the really great stuff.

GDD™: EDM is showing up everywhere now, from car commercials to previously untouched music festivals, where do you see EDM in 10 years?
M: I think EDM will lose its uniqueness due to such a rapidly huge surge in popularity.  EDM will go underground and then becomes more popular again, I feel like it’s a permanent/viscous cycle.  But, I know everything will be fine, I’m always ok with living in the underground.

GDD™: What’s next for Marseille?
M: I’m brining you guys more techno and experimental shit.  My EP is set on fall 2011 on Mako Records and later more stuff on other labels!  Also I’m working on some remixes and good collabs!

GDD™: What artist in the scene is really impressing you right now? Why?
M: I like Mendoza and Ethnik at the moment, their sound is very fresh. And of course Jan Driver, Skinnerbox and etc…

M: P.S. Thanks for the interview and listen to more good music!

GDD™: Your welcome buddy!

ZZT – Vulkan Alarm! (Proxy Remix)

09 21 2011

The power duo known as ZZT picked up heaps of attention this year when Tiga and Zombie Nation unleashed the massive Zzafrika remix package, and now the guys are back with a new single, ‘Vulkan Alarm!,’ as they prepare to release their debut album, Partys Over World, this 7th of November on Turbo Recordings. As a thank you to their fans on Facebook, the guys are giving away Proxy‘s take on the original, which is naturally inundated with the Russian’s dark, crunchy sound that you’d expect from the Mako Records label boss. If you don’t already, go give ZZT a ‘Like’ on Facebook and check out Jan Driver‘s banging remix as well while you’re over there.

Dancing In The Dub

The Mould + Urchins

09 13 2010
Mako RecordsThe Proxy's label out of Russia, is dropping some serious noise right now. Their newest EP 'Mad Soldier Take A Rifle' by The Mould is a huge example of why you shouldn't mess with Russia. Check out two of the tracks on the EP below, including a Volatile Remix that's so frightening I don't know when I could ever play it. That's up to you dirty DJs out there.

Moving on, we also have half of the new EP 'Drag On/And Then' from Urchins. If you didn't know, Urchins is also a part of the infamous PalmsOutSounds blog, and hail from the UK, along with the culprit responsible for the murderous remix of 'Drag On' on the EP– High Rankin.

HARD Summer Tour in Oakland

08 03 2010

The wait is finally over: the HARD Summer Tour kicks off this Friday at Fox Theatre in Oakland. Between Crystal Castles, Rusko, Sinden, and Proxy, our lineup can certainly hold its own against the following evening's madness in Los Angeles. General admission is sold out, but tickets are still available. Stay tuned for set times and a thorough review to come after the weekend.

Crystal Castles - Vietnam (Midnight Conspiracy Remix)
Drop The Lime - Sex Sax (Sinden Remix)
Polymorphic - Rock To Play (Proxy Re-work)
Rusko - Raver's Spesh

I feel silly for writing this, but please stay safe everyone. This has been a rough year for electronic music festivals worldwide and I hope the success of the HARD Summer Tour proves the naysayers wrong about the future of events like these.
