MANALOGUE’S ROBOT FUNK MIXTAPE

09 02 2010

Here’s a bit of a rushed mix I did for THE SHAKE, a weekly radio show LOTEK and I do every Friday night on KICK FM. Lotek and I are both out of town this week, hence the mix. It starts off with a bunch of robotdisco jams and gets into some house-flavoured breaks and ends with nu disco and tech house.

THE SHAKE

03 22 2010

It occurred to me on Friday that THE SHAKE has been running for four years now. I can’t believe LOTEK and I have spent nearly every Friday night together in the KICK FM studio since. We started playing mostly mashups and bootlegs but have run the gamut of dance music’s vast reach. (I’m proud to say though, we still haven’t played any trance! Ha!)

Here are the tunes from this week. The show is always spontaneous and as you’ll see below, the setlist reflects that. In other words, it’s a bit all over the place but for the most part, it’s all music that’s come to Manalogue. It’s also a cheeky way to to a massive post of material…

Ten I See.

03 19 2010

So finals have ended for me this week, leaving one last quarter of my college career…kind of scary but also pretty liberating. Anyways, my spring break has commenced and I have ventured out to Tennessee to visit my family before I lose another ten years off of my life at WMC in Miami next week. Not really quite sure what to do out here in Memphis so I’ve been drinking and downloading heavily (always a good combo). So here are 10 (yes 10!) tracks that I have found to be personally appealing and I hope you can skip through airports to them like I did yesterday. Party on Garth.

Great choon…much better than the Zodiac Cartel remix I think.
I’ve been rocking my 3rd nut off to this. Reminds me of something Pendulum-esque.
Don’t be fooled by the slow opening. You know how naughty 16Bit is.
Great new electro from Nashville, TN. Cheers to Nashville Nights for these ones.
New track off of Mixmag‘s cover CD. He’s back. Finally.
2 good ones for all you Nu-Disco freaks out thurr.
Great minimal usage of the vocals in this one. Bravo.
Nice housey track out on the Culprit label. Like what those guys are doing.

BONUS!
Crookers, Yelle, and Junkie XL? c’mon maaaaan.

Hope you enjoy these, let me know which ones you like. See you in Miami!

Bunk & Faktiss, Jiddy Vybzz, Spaaz (ft. Sana) – Ugly (video)

11 01 2009

We got an e-mail from Bunk, who is a south France rapper and also happens to be a good friend of Raziek. He told us about his outfits new track “Ugly” (taken from their new EP due on the Deephop Panel label) which was produced by Night Drugs and they also did a video for it that you can peep above.

'Boycott' e.p. on Dirty Disco Tracks

New E.P. by France's Night Drugs called 'Boycott' on the burgeoning record label Dirty Disco Tracks which is run by you guessed it Phil Speiser, better known as Dirty Disco Youth. With this remix we have for you from California's Algeronics and Dirty Disco's own take on the song it makes for a tight new release for the upstart. This continues the hits for the label after having the Disco Villains EP rack up some very respectable beatport stats in the past few months..

Where’s your head at?

One of the better Daft Punk remixes I've heard, by Night Drugs who I don't think I've heard of before. It's got a great sound, even better completely different from the original but it works for the track. How refreshing, it vaguely reminds me of the Lifelike or Moulinex type sound. Second track is the Yuksek and Brodinski remix of Peaches' Lose You sounding like something right out of a 007 game, Goldeneye to be specific. It's slightly quieter than the other tracks, I can't really see anyone going wild dancing to this track. And lastly, the Juxx remix of Private's My Secret Lover. Let the track play out a bit. Just a mention, I won't be posting this track, but check it out. Doesn't it Flosstradamus remix sound slightly like Basement Jaxx? Cause I love it, it's like a Matt & Kim and Basement Jaxx mash-up.
