Missy Elliott (featuring Teyana Taylor) – Put It On Ya

12 29 2009

Is Missy Elliott‘s Block Party ever really going to come out? If the leak of her new jawn with Lil Wayne, All 4 U, is any indication, then yes it is. The latest reports state it could be out as early as January 2010. Unlikely since there’s no offical cover art, promotional push, or confirmed track list, but at least there’s hope!

I recall way back in June of 2008, I made known that Missy’s 7th studio album would be released on August 26 of that year. What bollocks! Regardless, if all the time she’s been taking to “get it right” is worth it, I won’t complain.

So yep, there’s that Wayne collab which is floating around…go grab it if you feel the urge. Me? I’m more impressed with the final version* of Put It On Ya, which I grossly overlooked in the depths of my inbox from mid-October. Silly beast…

Groove Armada Team Up with Fenech Soler for Paper Romance

12 17 2009

A hotly anticipated album due out the first quarter of 2010, is the 9th studio album from the big beat electronica duo, Groove Armada. Black Light will see a proper release on February 1, and include a handful of tracks that the boys have already dropped…for free.

The third official single from the “wait, it’s not even out yet” release, will be Paper Romance, a raging romp with dramatic buildup verses opening into a chorus you’ll soon have stuck in your head. The song features tones from the act’s newest vocalist, SaintSavior, as well as Ben from Fenech Soler.

You can hear the original track here, which will be released on February 22, with remixes by Doorly, Zombie Disco Squad, Urchins and Softwar.

Oy, I struggled with how to phrase this Rihanna contest. So rather than try to explain, I’ll simply ask you to jump below the image, some of my words, the video, and then get to entering. Sound good? Ok…go!

First and foremost, our beloved “Riri” debuted a 30 second sneak peek of her upcoming video for Hard, featuring Young Jeezy. The track is definitely an album highlight off her latest offering, Rated R.

Now on to the good stuff. Rihanna is performing in New York City this Saturday, December 19. I, along with a few great blogger buddies, will be in attendance. Seeing as how I’ve got an extra ticket, I figured, why not make a rad little boy or girl’s holiday wishes come true and bring them along for the show! So that’s the catch…you’ll be hanging out with us, but I promise, we’re super fun!

Here’s how to enter. And no, its not through twitter this time…shocker!

Sade – Soldier Of Love (Konrad Remix)

12 14 2009

Last week, we debuted Sade‘s, shall we say, “comeback single”, Soldier of Love. Nearly a decade since new material had been heard, we immediately salivated at the initial sounds pumping from our speakers: a driving military beat with Sade’s inimitably gruff vocals.

So this morning, we’ve also got another Beaston fave returning in fine fashion. It’s been a bit of time since we’ve heard from the Old Money boys, but that ends now.

Coming back with a rush of speed and amped up drum beats, crew member, Konrad, takes us on a journey of massive proportions by rubbing his remix wash all over the track.

It’s fantastic, it’s fire, and it’s free!
