Crystal Castles Album 2012

It doesn’t stop does it? Everyone’s releasing albums this year with Crystal Castles adding to the pile toting an album for 2012.

By everyone we’re talking about Bloc Party, La Roux, Breakbot, The Temper Trap, Sebastien Tellier and Hot Chip!

In a recent print-only interview in NME with lead-lady Kath, she spilled details on the album dropping “sometime this summer” (Australia’s winter) with a majority of it being recorded in Croatia.

When asked why Croatia set it straight adding ‘It was a good place to cut off from everything’, truth.

The two were recent tourers of the dubiously cool Field Day festival in Sydney.

So here’s to a 2012 Crystal Castles album!

Bloc Party confirm new album for 2012

Bloc Party

Although there have been rumours of the group splitting from awkward studio run-ins to frontman Kele doing his own thing, it has been confirmed on his own Facebook that there will be a Bloc Party album scheduled for 2012.

In what seems to be the new-cool, artists have been dropping simple hints on forthcoming albums, from the recent Breakbot tweet to La Roux and her ‘sexier’ album.

2012 is looking to be an even bigger year for music, now where’s that Daft Punk album?

La Roux readies ‘sexier’ album

La Roux

La Roux, the original blog-siren is back with a ‘sexier’ album set for May.

The fair-haired quiffster behind internet hits “Bulletproof” and “In For The Kill” will follow up her self-titled effort from way back in 2009.

Elly Jackson says: “A lot of music that’s quite sexual is aggressive, but the music itself doesn’t sound sexy – it’s more people shouting, ‘Look at my bum! Look!’ I’m not turned on by it, I’m terrified.” But she has promised that the album will be, “a lot cheekier”.

All of this excites us, at the same time scarying us, not to mention confusing us… let’s hope it’s good right?

Blondes – Blondes

01 19 2012

I’m really excited about the debut album from NYC duo Blondes. They’ve released a few singles (including the amazing “You Mean So Much to Me“) and now February 7th RVNG Intl. will release their self-titled album. It’s a 2xCD affair, with disc one comprising their original tracks and disc 2 seeing those tracks reinterpreted by the likes of JD Twitch, Laurel Halo, Teengirl Fantasy and more. Here’s a track I really love:

Blondes – Wine

And here’s the Teengirl Fantasy remix:

And here’s another, an “ICEY COLD TECHNO REMIX” from Bicep (super “icey”)
