Covering a song as universally adored as M83′s sublime “Midnight City” is risky business, but New York’s The Knocks, joined here by vocalist Mandy Lee, manage to lovingly recreate the night driving anthem and dress it in new, disco-bound clothes. The original is by no means a stranger to the dance floor, but with their cover, The Knocks make it that much easier to play “Midnight City” at your next glow stick-appropriate event. Curren$y’s discography is a little intimidating – the New Orleans rapper has been in the game since 2002 and has released solo material multiple times yearly on albums, EPs, and mixtapes since 2006. Clearly he’s looking to top his own record of six releases in 2011, dropping a new EP Here just a month into 2012.

Our favorite indie jam band Here We Go Magic have been quietly releasing great records and fantastic singles at a steady pace for the past few years, and they’re not letting up in 2012: their third record A Different Ship, slated for a May 8 release on Secretly Canadian, boasts production assistance from Radiohead collaborator Nigel Godrich and a great first single “Make Up Your Mind,” which you can download for the price of your email address.

We’re still obsessed with the awesome, ridiculous NSFW video for Phèdre’s “In Decay,” so we were psyched when the band asked us to premiere their addictive, “Some Velvet Morning“/Greek mythology-inspired, forthcoming self-titled debut LP here in its entirety. The group’s playfully dark, sweetly romantic, and often strangely affecting (see “Ode to the Swinger” + “Glitter on Her Face“) jams recall the warped AM avant-pop vibes of Ariel Pink, John Maus, Molly Nilsson, and the like, except these guys sound like they’re genuinely having a blast all the time, and it’s extremely infectious. Phèdre is out on Valentine’s Day via Daps. Spend some time with it:

This is one of those moments where you’ve never heard of the band, nor the remixer – it’s not because im some music snob… it’s more so because there’s just so much damn music out there!

As far as the interwebs tells us, the Jubilants are a Sydney ‘prancy’ outfit consisting of 4 dudes including a guy named Ardie (dope name man) with Salad being of the Melbourne variant.

The lata, Salad has turned the original track “Antics” into a pulsing and totally satisfying effort with a joyous melody and whistle-clean production while still retaining those floppy indie guitars.

Yeah… we like it!
