MOWGLI @ VOYEUR SD

12 08 2010
Photobucket
This weekend, San Diego has a tropical storm coming. The London-based Italiano MOWGLI will be making his way to Southern California. Let me just say that I have waited for this for a LONG time, and I couldn't be more jazzed about it. Mowgli has just requested to play a 2 1/2 hour set, so Voyeur is gonna turn into a tribal, minimal, fidgety, jungle-bass rainforest. I encourage you to make it out to this one if you're in the area – check out the Facebook event to RSVP! (or send names to bones@gottadancedirty.com)

¡BONUS!
This is an old school Mowgli remix he did way back before the tropical-ness hit his groove. He samples vocals from 'Joe Budden - Pump It Up' and the outcome is pure dirty magic.

Boeoes Kaelstigen – Lou

11 22 2010

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Mine was pretty relax. Anyway we have received two brand new tracks from Adrian Recordings. Desolate is a first taste of the Scandinavian minimal trance duo Boeoes Kaelstigen’s album debut “Tanum Teleport” which will be out November the 24th. Secondly we have a Mowgli remix of the second taster of “Tanum Teleport” called Lou released by Discobelle Records.Seems like Adrian and Discobelle have teamed up for this project. I can’t wait to hear the complete album in a couple days. What about you?

Exploited comes of age

10 15 2010
Exploited Records are celebrating their 3rd anniversary in style: with a party in Berlin on Saturday, October 16th. The ever generous founder of Exploited, Shir Kahn, has sent over a whopping great 8-track compilation to further celebrate this birthday. And it not just a bunch of crappy bootlegs either, but features some of Exploited's best releases. Here's my picks of the bunch:

Modeselektor do what they do best: big thumping techno with a fuzzy, analogue twist. It's an all-growling, groaning, lurching monster. Play it loud and see your subwoofer shake with awe:

Siriusmo - 16 Wow (Modeselektor Edit) [pelski highly recommends]

There's some lovely tribal drums interspersed by piano stabs here, but, really, it's all about that deliciously soulful diva loop. Disco house with real dancefloor clout:

Homework - I Got One (You're It) [pelski highly recommends]

A quirky, choppy house tune that defies it's title and... well... bumps. It bumps alot. And the vocals bumps along to the beat rather neatly too:

Consistent - Aint no Bump [pelski highly recommends]

I don't know what ever happened to Minimow, Mowgli's promising minimal alter-ego (answers on a postcard please?). 'Bollyhouse' takes some Indian flutes and lays a simple rutted house beat beneath it.

A more recent one, this. Slapping beats and a chipper Balkan vibe:

Also be sure to check out their part if your lucky enough to be in Berlin on Oct 16th. Rather stonking lineup might I add:

EXPLOITED RECORDS 3-YEAR ANNIVERSARY GIVEAWAY

10 14 2010

EXPLOITED RECORDS are celebrating their third anniversary and lucky for you, they have a nice collection of tunes to give away. They’re also throwing a huge party for the occasion, so if you’re in Berlin (lucky you!) make sure to check it out. The facebook event page is here.

The package contains eight stellar tunes that explore the realms of house music. They’re all worth hearing loud, making the party even more enticing. I’m especially digging SHIR KHAN‘s Gypsy house remix of MALENTE & DEX.

feral friday pt. 10

09 10 2010

Sponsored by Scion

today has been a pretty boring dismal day so i thought i put up some fun party tunes the first is from savage skulls & douster which i thought wasn’t as bad as some of the collaborations of late, although it is featuring robyn on vocals who i’m not really a fun of, this track has a fun vocal for all the girls to song along and by 1:58 you better be cutting a rug.

Savage Skulls & Douster – Bad Gal 160kbps

La riots are signed to dim mak not my first choice when i’m looking for new fresh tunes but never the less this mowgli remix of their track bombah taken from there latest release ‘the drop’ is pretty dope, big techy drums surround a simple vocal perfect for all the drunk people filling the dance floor.

Morning, Treacle

Hope you kids are recovered from another weekend of summer mayhem. This week's been a pretty nutty seven days for electronic music, so I figured I'd kick off with a few heaters for y'all - try saying that with a British accent while trying to keep a straight face...
First up, GDD faves Dada Life have gone and produced a wicked new remix of Tim Berg, the man who also goes by the name of Avicii. Fuelled by champagne and bananas, the Swedish duo have given the original track a massive kick up the ass with distorted vox and heavy synthlines. Chin chin:

Signed with both Fool's Gold and Modular, Bag Raiders seem to be doing rather well for themselves at the moment. Their Big Fun EP is still getting a grip of airplay and their debut album is set to hit the shelves on October 1. Until then, let the new Harvard Bass remix of 'Way Back Home' tide you over. Massive fan of this track; to case the original, head over to aRod's post from a few weeks back - easy link.

I've been keeping an eye on Human Life who've been putting out some real tuneage lately. The LA based indie-disco trio will be playing at Pacific Fest in Costa Mesa on September 4th alongside Alan Braxe, Steve Aoki, and GDD's own Dr. Schlongo & ///Bones among others, so head down to the OC and party with us on Labor Day weekend - We'll hook you up with more info on that later. Back to Human Life though, they've got an EP set to drop at the beginning of November featuring remixes from Grum, Mintel Rose and Boston duo Nightriders. They're currently giving away the B-side 'Italo Crimewave' for free via their soundcloud:

Last and by no means least, Mowgli's just unleashed a solid seven minute fidget rendition of LA Riots 'Bombah'. Again, a huge fan of this track; if you dig it, head on over to Beatport to show Mowgli and LA Riots some love and support by buying the track in full 320 - Beatport link
