Hold Tite

01 26 2012

This is the greatest song I have ever heard on Boiler Room. Well maybe not, but “Hold Tite” by Late Nite Tuff Guy, as played by Move D during his encore selection, is pretty much vibes on vibes.

Minimal Mondays

More minimal for this Monday eve with a driving house number from Kevin Griffiths working with Amsterdam’s Julian Chaptal. Released on Tsuba records alongside other VR favorites like Zoo Brazil, Danton Eeprom and Motorcitysoul its no surprise that we get down to this.

DL : Kevin Griffiths – Oh Yeah (Julien Chaptal mix)

Next up is a little Move D to get things going a bit faster and funkier. His work here with DJ Late is perfect late night house with Mayfield basslines and loungey keys. Although its from 07 its sounds like tomorrow so enjoy.

DL : Move D feat DJ Late – Felix

Mux Mool’s latest release for Ghostly International is spaced out IDM that carries beautiful orchestration and analog keys mixed with hip hop sensibilities. When asked about his name the Brooklynite responded:

“Mux is short for ‘multiplexing,’ which is the streaming of many types of information through one channel,” he explains, “and Chac-Mool is an ancient Meso-American statue of a reclining man.” A technologically complex breed of synthesis and a timeless piece of indigenous art”. .

DL : Mux Mool – Hog Knuckles

Redshape strikes again but this time for a little help on the Delsin 2.0 Remix EP1. Working with Amsterdam’s newworldaquarium he crafts the original into a pulsating soundscape layered dark pads, bouncing bass and undulating synth stabs.

DL : newworldaquarium – Trespassers ( Redshape’s Trespassed remix)

French cafe house mixed together with tranced out bass sections and minimal stone hits. Truly remarkable sound here when the keys get punched alongside the Accordions and cafe sounds. Shades of Dop or Nôze combined with Popof in a blender.

DL : Schaufler and Zovsky – AM Utkiek (Mollono.Bass remix)

Minimal Mondays

Let’s face it Monday’s are minimal. The weekend is usually hanging all over you when you arrive to start another workweek. Sometimes you get through the wknd but you suffer hearing loss, liver damage, and lung destruction – all for the music. At least that’s me. I realize that these songs are straying from the dancefloor but sometimes you just need a massage and not a barrage. (Images from victortimofeev.com) .

Dubstep is undoubtedly a growing force and not just in the North of England or London. I used to be into Dj’ing dnb when I was younger but for me the jump up reggae and (creepy just for the sake of being creepy) or wonky no longer appeals to me. I leave that ghost in the past with the Moving Shadow. I prefer much lighter tones like that of London’s Pangaea. One of the bigger upcoming shows for him is Fabric London on the 19th of March but he’s all over the North before that so be on the looksy.

DL : Pangaea – Why

This new EP ‘U Can Dance’ from new wave electro artist DJ Hell is what I expected in terms of the original but once again SMD outshines all with their classic but new production techniques make this one sound vintage and believable unlike so many other vocal tracks or non dub edits. Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music and Eno fame really saves the EP thus keepin it from falling into that Fischerspooner hole.

Found this through our friends at Phase 2. It seems that $asha was on one of the previous mixes for the site and as we all know things move pretty fast around this crazy music world and after only 2 weeks of being in existence $asha has released its first 2 track. For a way better review check it out here.

DL : $asha – Colludo

This is the song to lift you up from you doldrums and pressures this fine Monday. Let the worries melt way with Move D‘s ‘Lush Summer Rain’. I first heard about Move D from Ritchie Hawtin’s live North American sets back in the 90′s and ever since whenever he drops some shit I’m on it.

DL : Move D – Lush Summer Rain

D.C. techno artist meets up with Berlin for another steady soft core dub dream. Martyn is coming off the back of recently praised Fabric mix and Redshape has produced tons of vinyl over the last 3 years but he is new to me. Thus leaving this writer playing catchup.

DL : Martyn – 2 Seventy Four (Redshape mix)

As as sidenote look what fun I had mispelling the myspace – artyn
