The Dirt #26: Dada Life.

02 18 2011

So as you can tell from the past few weeks, we’re beginning to transform The Dirt into a weekly artist guest post, with two fantastic entries from our pals PeaceTreaty and Dave Nada already in the books. This week, I was lucky enough to get in touch with our friend Olle from the ever-popular Swedish duo, DADA LIFE, and he sent over some great new choons as well as a couple classics that he and Stefan will always have a soft spot for. Here’s what the guys had to say about their selection…

“We serve you: a slab of red meat mixed with alcohol, bananas and white noise. Eat it up. And then shake it off in your living room.”

So enjoy, dirty dancers, and be on the lookout for some more great artist Dirts in the future. Most of the tracks below are 192kbps samples, so make sure you support these artists and buy the 320s on Beatport.

X Gonna Give It To Ya…

09 03 2010
Let me introduce you to an undercover post glitch hop renegade that goes by the name of 'X Get's The Crest'. It is unbeknown to me just exactly what he get's, and I can only hazard a guess of what's on the crest, but he sure brings a new age hybrid to the backbone of hip hop's clustered set. However I sincerely hope that my shameless DMX reference doesn't put his clan on my case, as I wouldn't like to be on the back end of his cross fire claps and bitch slap melodies. Come forward X and make yourself heard...

X Gets The Crest - Black Sands

X Gets The Crest - One 4 A Wobble On The Dancefloor

X Gets The Crest - Chokin' On A Chicken Bone

X Gets The Crest - Bizz Bizzy

This tribal weighted funky bootleg of Michael Cleis carried itself over the airwaves into our inbox from the prestigious Jackmode Blog. Head down there for more of DJ Beware's street level trickster mixes, where you'll also find a tresaure trove of freebies from house music's finest such as Solo, Round Table Knights, Zombie Disco Squad & Christian Martin etc. Be sure to check out more of DJ Beware & Motorpitch here at soundcloud, and check out their
baby faced DMC championship styles.

Michael Cleis - La Mezcla (DJ Beware & Motorpitch Booty)

The Scandinavians display a sublime talent for creating lazy experimental synth-tronica. Whether it's the stark kaleidoscope of their ice blunted homeland, or their penchant for recording the local creek running downstream on the sampler, it just always runs smooth through the speaker cone. Posttod are no exception to this cause.

Posttod - Dead In The Universe

Hear the ancient spiritual drumming of Ponchos' indie inspired trance pop. The Boston based 21 year old takes you back to the transience of the lost world, while filtering you through the utopia of the future. A perfect recliner to a fading summer...

Motorpitch DJ Mix

Our friend Florian from Austria better known as Motorpitch has hit us up again with another selection of tunes that provide funky, deep grooves and tribal African rhythms for this Friday afternoon.

Be sure to check out the El Toro EP we posted about here where with a strong remix from Wildlife! and others they have delivered the business for Man Recordings.

Mix tracklist is in the comments!

You See That Planet Mix by Motorpitch

Motorpitch has that Dancehall approach in his music – rough and raw to keep your feet on the floor, and a sweet melody that makes you look up to the sky and smile.

About 5 years ago, Motorpitch left the comfort of his engineering studio and went for a 2 month trip to Jamaica, earning his living by recording dubplates for various Jamaican sound systems. He went to the parties and dances set up in the middle of the road or in the woods, and was blown away by the passionate and sharing attitude that Jamaicans had towards their music. He took a piece of this attitude back to his studio in Vienna, and started making music again with a whole new heart.

Motorpitch is a combination of a dj, a producer, and an engineer – so he knows what makes you dance, how to go about it making it and how to make it sound great. From his afro meets bassline version of indie supergroup Mongrel’s “Hit from the Morning Sun” to the most recent remixes for Wildlife!, Tonka, Top Billin and Schlachthofbronx, Motorpitch always delivers the goods that keep his tunes securely in the playlists of club and radio djs all over the world.

Apart from constantly working on original material and remixes, Motorpitch is keeping himself busy with djing in clubs across Europe and doing mixes for various acclaimed radio stations such as Radio FM4 and Ministry of Sound.

Schlachthofbronx – Ayoba feat. Spoek & Gnucci Banana (Top Billin Remix)

03 02 2010

We posted the original a while back but now it’s finaly released on Man Recordings and they got tons of top notch producers (Daniel Haaksman, Beataucue, Ku Bo, Phon.o, Dj Beware & Motorpitch) to do remixes of the track. We got the Top Billin wobblin remix free download from soundcloud.
