GDD™ Premiere: Moby – After (Big Black Delta Remix)

12 06 2011

It should be fairly well-known now that electronic music pioneer, Moby, is one of our collective all-time favorite artists. He’s been making beats and breaking molds for decades, and his ongoing relevancy is a testament to how innovative his productions truly are. On that note, the hairless wonder released a masterful single titled ‘After’ this past fall, collecting an impressive remix roster including Tommy Trash and Tim Mason, amongst others. Now, there seems to be a surplus of good remixes that couldn’t fit on the EP, including this dichotomously heavy/light take by M83 collaborator and Mellowdrone frontman, Jonathan Bates; producing under the side project, Big Black Delta. Have a listen and check out our interview with Moby at Electric Zoo here!

Tropicool’s Picks
Pat Lok – No Shame (Goldroom Remix)
A bottle rinses up on the shore. It is filled with euphoria, sunshine, and a crescendo from outer space. Our good buddy Josh (Goldroom) keeps pumping out instant classics that will make your soul glow.

Miguel Campbell – Baby I Got It (Edit Murphy Remix)
Edit Murphy is apparently here to stay. He gets deeper than his other productions here, so purse your lips, bob your head, and don’t go home tonight. Caus’ baby you got it!

Luther Vandross – I Wonder (SAH Re-Froth)
SAH was foraging in a long forgotten place between space and time and stubbled upon a funky ball of tits. He had the funk, and had to keep the funk alive. It’s the spawn of a new time where light up dance floors glisten off a tan butt poached up on a lengthy pair of stems.

Christophe – The Force (Julio Bashmore Piano Mix)
Beautiful piano rework of a rather amazing original. This instrumental journey will consist of copious amounts of cocaine with Stevie Wonder while floating on a cloud.

Moby – The Right Thing ft. Inyang Bassey (Cosmonauts Remix)
The Cosmonauts can do no wrong. Surely a Moby foundation can’t hurt either. Space disco is in, just like monster tits stuffed beneath an undersized “GO DEEP” tee.

Premiere: Moby – “After” (iamamiwhoami Remix)

10 25 2011

The mysterious Swedish electronic artiste iamamiwhoami has contributed to Moby’s new remix EP for Destroyed third single, “After”. iamamiwhoami’s reimagining maintains the original’s dark, lonely melancholy, but makes things far more interesting with a pulsating, repeating bass line and oscillating synths that twinkle like Christmas lights. Catch the remix below; Moby’s Destroyed is out now.

New Previews from PeaceTreaty

10 18 2011

Yesterday, our boys Josh & Angelo from PeaceTreaty sent us over a pair of previews of their upcoming remixes that will be hitting Beatport in the next couple of weeks, and we are impressed as usual. The first track is a hot n’ heavy new take on Moby‘s ‘After,’ complete with a light synthy Big Room build and a heavy bassline drop that I can’t wait to hear on some professional speakers. Already gaining support from Steve Angello, Hardwell, and Tommy Trash, this remix will be released on Moby’s Lil Idiot Records on Monday, October 31st. The second remix on our plate is Diplo & Oliver Twizt‘s ‘Go,’ and personally, I can really hear the always-improving PeaceTreaty signature sound in this one. This EP will be released on Mad Decent on November 8th, and you probably have heard it played out already by some people you may have heard of: Tiesto, Benny Benassi, Afrojack, Chuckie, and Mr. Aoki. Keep ‘em coming fellas!

REVIEW: Moby at iTunes Festival

08 03 2011

On Sunday we were treated to a fantastic gig from Moby as London’s month long iTunes Festival drew to a close. Camden’s Roundhouse was packed to the rafters with special guests and competition winners being treated to a really intimate show that lasted almost 2 hours. Moby ripped through a set that included hits ‘Natural Blues’, ‘Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?’, ‘Honey’, and the mighty ‘Porcelain’, while also showcasing a handful tracks from his new Destroyed record such as ‘Be The One’, ‘Sevastopol’, and ‘Lie Down In Darkness’. If you haven’t already heard Destroyed, I think it’s his most impressive work since 2002′s 18 album and one of the best records I’ve heard this year.

Sunday proved not only that Moby’s one of the most prolific songwriters and electronic producers of our age, but also that unlike so many musicians, his live shows are even more monumental than his studio work – His band were really tight, and the female vocalist who joined him had a sensational voice. Overall a great gig to be at, and you can stream the whole thing for free from iTunes here.

Special thanks to the guys at Isklar for having us along.

Bonus:
Jesse Voorn and Jorgensen’s rolling party anthem with the awesome ‘Natural Blues’ vocal.

“The waves ≠ raves consists of hand-picked gems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. They are groovey, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave. They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet. Stay Dreamy.”
