ALL THINGS GOLD 003: RUSS CHIMES + MNDR

09 05 2011
DC, we love you. It's been incredible the love you've shown our new All Things Gold concert series - both of our first two shows sold out with over 500 tickets sold - and we're all set to keep the streak alive with one of our biggest shows yet next week as we import another huge lineup to the nation's capital. On the DJ side of things, we've got Russ Chimes headlining as he makes his triumphant return to the America for his first US dates since late 2009, with support coming from our main man Starsmith as he makes his long awaited stateside debut alongside his good friend and sometime collaborator Mr. Chimes. Then headlining the live stage we've got superstar-on-the-rise MNDR returning to the DC live circuit after opening for Chromeo at 9:30 Club earlier this year, plus support from Miami newcomer Nicky Blitz getting things started early.

It all kicks off with doors at 9pm and Heineken drink specials galore, and for the low low price of $10 advance tickets (or $13 on the door), it's not really the kind of thing you can say no to. Advance tickets available are HERE, but move fast as this isn't a show you want to miss. Set times and streaming mp3s below, you know what to do.

Kingdom Remixes MNDR and Teams Up With Electrik Red’s Naomi Allen? Pearl Clutch!

07 20 2011

Last month, the homegirl MNDR dropped onto the raddest radio show in the game, Belly of the Beast (Thursdays 8pm ET), on East Village Radio. She hinted that her single, Cut Me Out, was officially remixed by an NYC radass, and here we present you with the full on facts. It's Kingdom. And it's ah so ah good. Also... news of his new single today makes me swoon like a sweltering beast. Holy!

Kingdom, a [dance] producer renowned for his devotion to R&B, has teamed up with Naomi Allen for his next single. Allen makes up one quarter of Electrik Red, the criminally underrated US girl group whose debut album, 2009′s Dream-governed How to Be a Lady, Vol. 1, represents one of the great modern R&B full-lengths. Her and Kingdom’s collaboration is titled Take Me, and is due for release on Fool’s Gold, this coming Tuesday, July 26. On the B-side, you’ll find If You Buck, a “dreamlike crunk instrumental” built around harps and finger snaps. (via)

You can stream Take Me here or grab the MNDR mix at this link.

So much ear love right now.

Rai Knight – New New (MNDR Remix)

The comparisons between these two were immediate 'cross the worldwide blogosphere, and while I might not neccessarily classify 'em as samesies, I will give 'em both a rad amount of credit and virtual high fives. We've been anxiously awaiting the MNDR remix of Rai Knight's New New since we got wind of it some many months and a halfs ago, but now she's here, and yep yep, she's a good.

You can stream the track below, but please do go buy it officially on iTunes. Your pennies wil help support the cause of me and my homegirl MNDR in our quest to get matching tattoos. For real.

MP3: Foster The People Pumped Up Kicks (MNDR Remix) mp3

LA’s Foster the People are definitely getting a lot of (well-deserved) mileage out of their excellent 2010 jam “Pumped Up Kicks” and its summer-sunset, haze-heavy wandering bassline. Latest example is MNDR’s bubbly, eightes’d-out reworking – electro genius Amanda Warner ups the clattering percussion to eleven and brings out the whole thing’s dance floor potential without damaging its hazy, lazy, end-of-the-summer vibe. Distant, rooftop-to-rooftop megaphone vocals intact, whistling solo retained – but this one will make you want to dance. Both Foster the People and MNDR are gaining fast-growing buzz on their own – if this remix is up your alley, check out more by both artists.
