With 2009 coming to a close, we’ve dished out our BE[a]ST of the year lists, given you a number of holiday goodies from labels and artists, and prepped as best we can for 2010. But no musical chart-topping year is ever complete without the mighty hand of DJ Earworm.
For the past 2 years, the San Francisco-based DJ has been compiling his annual wrap-up mashups, taking the top chart-busting heat-seekers and mixing them in one tight and tidy package. And so goes the case for 2009, with his United State Of Pop 2009 (Blame It On The Pop). The mashup features the top 25 most popular hit songs of 2009, according to Billboard Magazine.
After the video, you’ll find the track list.

Every year around this time, San Francisco-based DJ couple, A Plus D, duke it out, fighting over which of the past year’s mashups are good enough to make it on to their Best of Bootie album, an annual compilation mix of the year’s best mashes.
This serves as both the soundtrack to the international Bootie mashup parties and also as a lazy person’s one-stop shopping for the year’s best bootlegs, without all the pesky hassle of sorting through all the out-of-key train wrecks that litter the blogosphere. These tracks are fan-affirmed and dance-floor tested and Beaston approved!

Milli jumped on board with another of the same name-ish. Pairing Mille’s Crysteena with Blue Foundation’s Eyes On Fire, we’re listening to quite the rad mix and mash. Get it!
Well that’s quite a lengthy song title for an equally long mash. And you know what? I’m A-OK with every single second of it. Bundling up a great big love package of Diamond Cut and Dragonette is the quickest way into this beast’s heart!
Here’s the deal. Marc Johnce is a mashup producer from Nuremberg, Germany. Inspired by listening to mashups, he started producing his own tracks in September 2008. He’s also known as one part of the Danish-German Mashup Forces (DMF) and Audio Lynch.
With some quick flicks of the wrist, Johnce snagged DC’s mix of Amy Meredith’s Pornstar and rubbed it down with the Canadian band’s Pick Up the Phone, off their latest album, Fixin to Thrill. All in all…this is nearly 8 minutes of luscious gooey heaven.
It’s been quite some time since I posted anything about one of my beastliest obsessions of last year, Little Boots. After the release of her debut album earlier this year, I kind of went into “Hesketh hiding”, what with no new material to feature, and the inevitable late year lull.
Today, an interesting bit of news to report…and it includes LASERS! Read what Little Boots has to say.
Hi everybody,
Have something very special to share with you over the next few weeks. As you may/ may not have heard/ guess, I kind of have a bit of an obsession with laser harps. Laser what I hear you say…well it’s basically exactly what it sounds like, a harp made of laser. Youtube Jean Michelle Jarre if you have no idea what I’m talking about.
Anyway this obsession has been growing and for a while now I have been trying to build my very own. This task was a lot more difficult than imagined, surprisingly they do not sell them at Argos…so I have talked to and had help from lots of different lovely people and it looks like we are almost there, hopefully it will be ready for action for the gigs later this month. It’s been a rollercoaster of a quest but we were lucky enough to have some very talented people follow me around with a camera on my mission, and have made some little films which we will be posting exclusively in the members section over the next month…
Watch part one of the series now.
This is all sorts of intriguingly promising. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for new tunes in 2010…maybe even instituting this new device!
If you’ve been a dedicated reader over the past two months or so, you’ll know we’ve had quite the affinity for posting up tracks by semi-newcomer mash dudes, The White Panda. The duo of Procrast and DJ Griffi have quite the knack for both blending tracks and knowing how to make this Beast bounce.
After winning me over with a number of pop and rap mashes, the bear bros hit me up this afternoon with an in your face mixing of some major mouths. Corraling Pitbull, Ying Yang Twins, Timbaland, Fatmoon Scoop, and the wildcard of Trans X, TWP have just incited a raging dancefest.
Here we go kiddos! It’s our once-a-weekly, “we do it when we feel like it” post to try and catch up. Being that the lovely holiday of Thanksgiving was last week, and we tried super hard to not be chained to the computer, one thing remained. A crowded inbox.
So for your pleasure, let’s run through some goodies…all twitterly quick!
Oooh we got some killer goodies for you to start your Monday off right! Last week, all my little beasts kind of went crazy for a super slick remix from the talented dudeman, Skeet Skeet. Today, we continue on in praise of his productions.
So what’s new in his world? Well, he’s been hard at work, mixing, mastering and mashing up a Sky Ferreirax Skeet Skeet Mixtape. While the offering isn’t available just yet, we’ve got a gnarly mash titled Happy Dre, which will appear on said output. The song floats Sky’s “what, you mean she’s only 17?” mature vocal take on The Beatles’ Happiness is a Warm Gun over a Dr. Dre beat that you all know and love.
If you have any thoughts as this not working well…think again. Skeet knows his way around a mix, and hell, this one is done to perfection.
Skeet and his producing partner, Turbotito, whipped up a disco delicious cover fix of Stevie Nick’s’ Stand Back for Ferreira to tackle. This is KILLER.
