I remember when Blatta & Inesha came on to the scene back in 2009. They were dubbed by many at the time as the “next Crookers,” due to their banging Electro style and the fact that they are a duo from Italy. Since then, they’ve had releases on some of the heaviest hitting Electro labels in the game including Dim Mak, Lektroluv, Crux, and Lee Mortimer’s Wearhouse label. Well, Los Angeles, we are bringing the guys to you this week for a massive VS. event on the West Side along with support from DJ Shae B, Ben Oprstu, La Muerte, and Mr. Metronomo.

Un peu d’auto-promotion ne fait pas de mal. Laidback Luke sort ces jours-ci sa toute première compilation mixée, Super You & Me, en compagnie de son protégé Avicii sur son label Mixmash. Il nous a fait l’immense honneur de piocher dans le modeste catalogue BAF Musique. On ne le remerciera jamais assez. Il sera de passage au Social Club ce vendredi !

Comment as-tu fait ta sélection pour ce mix ? On y retrouve pas mal d’edits de ton propre cru je crois…
C’est toujours très compliqué de choisir ! J’ai envoyé environ 50 demandes de clearance et j’en ai peu gardé au final. J’ai tranché en prenant en compte la progression globale que je voulais avoir sur ce mix, en l’écoutant par exemple dans une voiture, avec du recul. Je me suis posé ensuite des questions pour savoir si ce mix était assez marqué de mon empreinte, si les titres qui étaient dessus allaient être encore d’actualité dans 6 mois, si j’avais mis de petite figures de style ou non…

Il y a 19 titres. Quelques exclus ?
Oui, on retrouve mes remixes pour Calvin Harris, Moby et Wynter Gordon. Il y a aussi mon nouveau single ‘Till Tonight’, premier extrait de mon album à venir. Pour le reste, ce sont mes titres préférés du moment, avec l’idée de créer un mix qui reflète au mieux ce que je fais en club.

C’est très varié. Tu as même inséré un délire batucada (ndlr1 : rythme de carnaval) en plein milieu (ndlr2 : MAN&MAN – Le Cabaret Hologramme remixé par Lazy Flow). Peu de DJ’s osent faire ça…
Je ne sais pas, je ne me préoccupe pas trop de ce que font les autres. Pour moi, c’est naturel de mélanger tous les styles. Qui a dit qu’un mix devait être d’un seul style ? J’adore la variation !
