SPF 5000 – Paraiso

11 28 2011

Here’s a treat for all house and disco fans out there, SPF 5000 currently have this great release out on Nurvous Records which is totally groovin’. I had a quick chat with vocalist Amy Douglas over their Paraiso release and here’s what she had to say about it: “Expanding upon the Bronx freestyle influenced “ghetto disco” of White Hot Fantasy, Paraiso goes directly to our love of all things HOUSE, and will take you on a journey that includes Latin influences, African influences, and the classic K-Jee vamp.  From B’more to Miami, we hope this will LIVE on your turntables, in your IPODS, and in your souls.” Stream Paraiso below and click here to purchase the complete release which also features remixes by Hex Hector, Lazaro Casanova, Scottie B and Walker & Royce.

Will Eastman & Micah Vellian Ft. Tt The Artist – No Sleep

03 29 2011

2010 saw Will Eastman’s debut single, “Feelin’” reverberate on dance floors around the world. His work caught the attention of  people all over the world and even landed on Fatboy Slim’s “Weapons of Choice” Beatport Chart and Kissy Sell Out’s BBC Radio One playlist.

This past week Eastman unleashed his follow-up single. This time  he collaborated with fellow Washington, DC producer Micah Vellian and Baltimore emcee TT The Artist. The result is “No Sleep,” a vocal workout over a synthed-out funk groove.

Heavyweights Treasure Fingers and Bird Peterson deliver monster, peak time remixes, just as you’ve come to expect from them, while Lazaro Casanova brings a sexy late-night slow-burner. Loopjack (the alias of Toronto’s John Roman) comes with some Chicago flavor and Germany’s Tagteam Terror pump things up with their high-energy mix. For the Dub mix Eastman and Vellian take the Original back to 1984 with some Axle Foley action.

Soundcloud + Free Exclusive download of one of the “No Sleep” remixes after the Jump. I promise you the remix is complete fire!

No Sleep (feat. Tt The Artist) by Will Eastman

Haunted Day

01 19 2011

I had a hankering for The Juan Maclean‘s “One Day” this morning, so I hopped on Hype Machine in hopes of finding a gem of a remix. I was successful, as Lazaro Casanova‘s “Haunted Dub” was among the search results. I knocked it down to 192 because I’m a gentleman, but you can pick up the full, dated release with remixes by Surkin, Marc Romboy, and The Emporer Machine at Beatport.

Lazaro Casanova – Tropicasa Summer Mix

07 09 2010

Miami based producer Lazaro Casanova is one of our favorite dj’s and producers, always bringing that smooth and funky techhouse flavor. We commissioned him to do one of the remixes for the upcoming Femme En Fourrure “Dirty Blonde Remixes” EP (out next week on Discobelle Records) and not only did he bring us an mindblowingly amazing remix that’s perfect for the beginning of the night, he also provided us with this exclusive mix that contains full on summer vibes.

BONUS: A playful take on the Lily Allen (an old favorite here at Discobelle) track “Not Fair” that he just finished which stretches out the track, he uses just the right amount of her vocals along with some handclaps and funky drums to make this into a winner.

The Healer

03 29 2010

We’ve been keeping a close eye on Miami producer/dj, not to mention fellow Grinder, Lazaro Casanova for quite some time now. He’s been keeping busy honing his skills down in the sun and now he gives us a split EP together with the legendary Oscar G. “Tropicasa” is one splendid latin/tribal house release, both the original version and this Oscar G remix of the track “The Healer” has been staples in our sets for months. It brings forth James Brown AKA “The Godfather of Soul” and pits him off this dancefloor stomper.

Back To Basics

01 02 2010

l_1c318614aea548f79f54163ab4842342

First post of 2010 with a mix, and it comes from fellow Grinder Lazaro Casanova who’s definetely a man of explicable taste and who’s holding it down when it comes to tech house.

“This is a mix I’ve recently finished. I decided to include it into my “Perfect 10″ mixes, just cause I feel like people have personally enjoyed those and I figured it’d be nice to bring it back. This one includes two unreleased tracks I’ve done: one is a remix for Lee Burridge that will be out on Leftroom Records, the other is an original song I did called “Bames Jrown”. I’ve called the mix back to basics, because all of the tracks are highly influenced by the classic house sound…going deeper and groovier.”

The kids want…House!

12 06 2009

This ’92 Chicago House classic from Cajmere – a house legend who founded Cajual Records and then went on to to form the mighty Green Velvet – has been given a lovely reworking by Switzerland’s Mercury. Skippy, conga-infused tribal house beats give dominance to those seminal gospel vocals, snipped and cut. For more free Mercury remixes, hit up his soundcloud:

Cajmere feat Dajae – Brighter Days (Mercury Edit) [pelski highly recommends]

The Fabric promo crew have given me one of my favourite tracks from Voodeux’s eerie and intelligent debut techno album, Paranormal, to hand out for free (it appeared in the pelski chart a month or two back). Willowy synths meander around the gentle padding of minimal house beats and hand claps. Wielding a catchy hook – strangely reminiscent of the kind of music you hear in a hotel elevator, but don’t let that discourage you. Buy the whole the album here – filled to the brim with ambient IDM and hook-laden techno:

Voodeux – Just A Spoonful [pelski highly recommends]

M.in been smashing the house scene this year, first taking it by storm with jazzy number ‘New Orleans’ and then collaborating with the likes of Bastian Schuster, Patrick Kunkel, Harold Todd and YNK for some of the most exciting releases of the year. And everyone from Radioslave to Basti Grub have enlisted his remix skills. He’s giving out this trumpeting Balkan track for free (it seems this jaunty Balkan and gypsy sound is all the rage right now):

M.in & Jones – Balkan Style

Here we have a cover of Candi Station, remixed by The xx, re-edited by Renaissance Man… The xx remix is sublime, whilst this re-edit reworks things for the dancefloor:

Florence + The Machine – You’ve Got the Love (The xx Remix) (Renaissance Man Edit)

Bonus:

2020 Soundsystem – Sliding Away (Lazaro Casanova Remix v3.8)
