According to the website:

“Pleasure is the all new soundtrack to the party of your dreams with Janet Jackson, Keri Hilson, Jodeci, Aaliyah and Gucci Mane all getting the Hud Mo treatment.”

Hud Mo – Pleasure by Hudson Mohawke

Ummmmm YEAH! I think I like the Jodeci one the best.

Apparently these tracks are only available on ultra-limited vinyl. More info here: http://itsthepleasureprinciple.net/

A Dream Called Love

02 14 2011

Today we celebrate the most commercial of holidays, Valentine’s Day. The pressure to buy objects of closeness out of expectation is such an unromantic gesture. Yet we fold, giving gifts to those we love that would inevitably mean so much more as surprises, on any other day of the year. Down the street sit the unattached, lined up on their barstools, looking for a spark from a stranger. The silliest part of Valentine’s Day is the marketing of the notion that love equates completeness. It’s simply not true. Look no further than music as a window on the complexities of love. There’s no other single topic that stirs musicians to create more than the beating, breaking heart. Below you’ll find a few topical Valentine’s Day musical explorations.

TELL ME, CAN WE TAKE A RIDE TONIGHT?

For the fourth installment of Lucky Me’s Valentine’s Slow Jams series, the label call on Hudson Mohawke to bring forth a mix of ass to groin enticing tunes. Mohawke heads straight for the stairwell with slippery ’90s R&B from 3LW, Montell Jordan, Ginuwine and more. Panties to the side girl, slide down the pole. Stream or download the mix here.

THE MOON MAY BE HIGH, BUT I CAN’T SEE A THING IN THE SKY.

Lonely Vibes Valentines comes our way from recent discovery Wild Vibes. Soft pop classics and the band’s original material mingles in faded, sunny bliss. This mix makes me feel stupidly happy. It captures the best moments of being alone; the go wherever, do whatever you want freedom. Carefree sentiments that alone doesn’t have to equal lonely.

MMHMM, MMHMM, THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID.

R. Kelly, The-Dream and Trey Songz together create a trifecta of soap opera R&B. While they step on one another’s toes often, each has their own best strength. Of the bunch, Songz is the most skilled with maintaining melody amidst a storyline. Earlier today Songz premiered the video for “Love Faces” in conjunction with his four city Valentine’s week tour of the same name. It’s an anthem for the all the marketable aspects of the holiday; candlelight, silk sheets, melted chocolate and skin.

Trey Songz – Love Faces

LOVE FADES WITH THE COLD SUN.

ArnHao’s “Love Fades” is the sound of utter despair. The severed from reality, locked in your room, sobbing into a pillow for days kind of song. Arresting vocals quiver with longing, echoing off into nowhere. A tender, intimate portrait of heartbreak.
