Long story short, I love me some Drums of Death. The Glasgowian underlord's moniker is the alter-ego of Colin Bailey, who emerged from London's club scene in early 2008 and after Joe Goddard from Hot Chip and Alex Waldron heard a tape of his music, signed him to their record label and party crew: Greco-Roman. Stories quickly began to emerge in the press that he was cursed by some voodoo magic and had his heart cut out and replaced with a broken drum machine. That. Is. Awesome.

This Friday, at Public Assembly for part of the FIXED show series, DoD will take the stage for a live performance. Now, last time I caught the facepainted monster, he was opening for Peaches at Music Hall of Williamsburg, and he put on a terrorizingly terrific set. More of the same will surely be in effect this weekend, as he's gearing up to drop an album, and the new songs we've already heard, well, WHEW, they's a beast's dream.

another week gone by another friday for you to get excited about how much alcohol/substances you will ingest in an attempt to make the working week fade away into distant memory for it is the weeks end and you need to release. first up to get you awake and ready for the weekend is caspa remixed by doctor p, the original marmite its a pretty fast breaks style track but it is given the treatment by doctor p (who you may know for his track sweet shop) who grimes this up quite nicely, check it out.

Next drums of death a solo man/voodoo cursed zombie undead with a broken drum machine for a heart, signed to Joe Goddard’s (member of hot chip) party imprint greco-roman he has released a few singles you may have heard ‘got yr thing’ and ‘lonely days’, with plenty of remixes for you to search for to get an extra taste. but todays track is off his forthcoming album ‘generation hexed’ which was not what i was expecting but nice to see some variety in the tracks, ‘won’t be long’ is a bit techy, abit tropical and abit fun so get on it.

Drums Of Death are the tropical grimesters from where else but ye ole London town! The latest is ‘Got Yr Thing’, a play it loud sort of tune fit for the scenesters and bros to bop and sway to. Mixes on the EP come in the form of a Jesse Rose ‘Made To Play’ Dub and a similar gritty effort via Starkey.

Jesses is an accending melody of madness, jumping and twisting towards an eventual party jam freak out.

Here is the new Mika track “Rain”. In the stores you can buy the EP with “super-dancey” remixes from Benny Benassi, Seamus Haji, Magistrates and Domenico Torti. That’s all good but if you are playing a secret warehouse London style rave I think you probably be better of with this one.

Drums of Death should need no introduction, he is a dope guy, looks good in a white mask, gives a wicked out of this world live/dj act and on top of that he is a stellar producer.

Drums of Death continues to thrill us with “Got Yr Thing.” Fun clip. I’m pretty sure that’s Joe Goddard at the 1:10 mark. Watch closely. As the video proves, if listen to this track too much you’re gonna end up with Drums of Death makeup. Which might work out well with Halloween quickly approaching.
