Mehdi Favéris-Essadi de 34 años, era uno de los principales miembros de Ed Banger y un ídolo personal, falleció el día de hoy en un trágico accidente.
Hoy me siento con la obligación de decirle adiós a alguien que sin conocerlo, sin saber nada de el, se convirtió en una enorme parte de lo que soy ahora, alguien con el que madure y me enseño grandes cosas sobre música, alguien que me lleno de alegría cada vez que lanzaba un track o un mixtape, alguien al que quiero sin quererlo, alguien realmente increíble, ese alguien es Dj Mehdi.
Quiero agradecer personalmente a Ed Banger Records Latinoamerica por difundir algunos mixtapes extraños y canciones de Mehdi que no encontraba en ningún otro lugar. Un abrazo a todos esos excelentes fans de Ed Banger!
The news of DJ Mehdi‘s passing has been circulating all morning, what started as a string of odd and seemingly unbelievable tweets is now being covered by reputable media outlets like FACT Mag, Resident Advisor, XLR8R and even Huff Post. Said coverage states that the 34 year old French producer was dancing with friends on the roof of his home studio in Paris, celebrating the birthday of Carte Blanche co-producer Riton, when the roof collapsed. A number of others were also seriously injured.
Although I didn’t know him personally, Mehdi was widely regarded as one of the happiest and most positive people around. He also headlined the first real club gig I played back in 2008 and that will always be special to me.

The absolutely stunning Kid Sister will be performing live tonight at CONTROL at the Avalon in Hollywood. This Windy City woman has been the voice to some great dance tracks in the past few years, including the big track by Mehdi and Riton in 2o10 titled ‘Do Do Do’ that was made into a monster remix by the legendary Laidback Luke. Supporting her will be SF’s Trevor Simpson, as well as local LA talent from Mr. White, Thee Mike B, and Steve Prior.
We will also be holding down the GDD™ House Party room tonight with our friends from Techno Color Kids as well as the lovely ladies of TrippensoXx, so come have a drink with us in the room directly to the right of the front of the stage.
