It's the Supersound

Discovery Recordings seems like most logical step for the established New York party. I attended the Discovery 2 Year Anniversary (pictured) a couple months ago and I can assure you it was one of the best events I’ve been to. Therefore, I’m confident the label will be just as crispy.

For the new label’s first release, Free Magic and Jkriv (Deep & Disco) put together a stunning two track EP entitled Chant and Sing. Much like the tone of Free Magic’s Bizzies Mix, “Chant” and “Sing” are organic, free-flowing House tracks that groove at a comfortably low, yet enticing bpm. It’s nice to see everybody getting behind this Discovery 2 Year Anniversary Party. ‘I Want You Back’. The classic Jackson 5 song. How great of a song it is, you can never get tired of it. It’s my favorite of all the J5 tracks. There have been a lot of great remixes of it, one of my favorite being Roger Seventytwo’s that I posted here a while back. Discovery did a cover of it, in their souped up, soul/electronica style. It’s a great cover. It sounds more like a remix than a cover because it doesn’t take too much away from the original, just highly alters it. I think when a song is as great as J5’s original, there is almost no harm you can do to it. Love the woe-begone, forlorn lyrics of simply wanting a girl back that’s now with someone else, and hopefully asking, ‘give me one more chance to show you that I love you.’
