The Young Professionals – Disco (Yuksek Remix)

02 09 2012

TYP - Disco (Yuksek Remix)

Yuksek has remixed “Disco” from the new Tel Aviv duo The Young Professionals.

YTP are Ivri Lider and Yonathan Goldshtein and amalgam a mixture of ‘net art, design, video and more’ – if their site is anything to go by they are indeed a creative bunch!

Yuksek’s remix is farily glorious stuff of apreggio’d melodies, quickening drums and everything that is great about the French native’s production skills.

Release date was Feb 6th on Polydor France but no sign of this yet?

Be a Gee – ESP (Final DJs Higher and Higher Rework)

02 09 2012

End bosses of the music scene, Final DJs have finished up 2 new free tracks. One is entitled Neon and the other is a rework of Be a Gee’s track “ESP”. Highly bathed in 80s vibes and a “real-life” cassette intro, this one will take you back to the days of leather jackets and rad (really rad) hair!

Cadillac – Past Midnight (Jeremy Glenn Remix)

02 09 2012

Cadillac Jeremy Glenn

Time traveller Jeremy Glenn has given Sydney/Melbourne duo Cadillac’s jam “Past Midnight” a throaty remix!

He’s side-stepped away from the usual perky 80′s coke-synth and led in with house-drums and wrapped vocals, giving the original an entirely new shape.

Maybe it was the similar vibes both crews were throwing that allowed the opportunity to try something different.

Not bad, not bad.

Don’t forget to try get your hands on a Cadillac 12″, they’re selling like hot-cakes!

Letthemusicplay – “Space” Jacques Renault & Letthemusicplay remixes

02 08 2012

Little is known about the incognito artist/duo/group/robots Letthemusicplay besides the name reference to Shannon’s 1983 chart topping single titled, you guessed it, “Let the Music Play.” Mixmag, A-Trak, and The 2 Bears are supporting their first release titled “Space,” and DFA RecordsJacques Renault added his magic touch with a dark disco remix.  Letthemusicplay also remixed the track, turning it into a deep disco hit. What I do know is that Letthemusicplay is/are someone to look out for in 2012.

Check out the two remixes after the jump!

Jubilants – Antics (Salad Remix)

02 06 2012

Salad Remix

This is one of those moments where you’ve never heard of the band, nor the remixer – it’s not because im some music snob… it’s more so because there’s just so much damn music out there!

As far as the interwebs tells us, the Jubilants are a Sydney ‘prancy’ outfit consisting of 4 dudes including a guy named Ardie (dope name man) with Salad being of the Melbourne variant.

The lata, Salad has turned the original track “Antics” into a pulsing and totally satisfying effort with a joyous melody and whistle-clean production while still retaining those floppy indie guitars.

Yeah… we like it!

Rufus – Fuel (Max Smart Remix)

02 05 2012

Rufus

Inner-Stoney workings will know the charisma and stylings of one Max Smart, suit by day and wunder-house enthusiast by night. He’s re-rubbed Sydney outfit Rufus and one of their first hit’s “Fuel”.

When explaining his effort Max tilted towards the  ’slo-mo grinder with some big bass and shit’ and it shows with the winding pulse that never breaks a 101bpm sweat.

The Dirt #61: Tropicool & aRod

02 02 2012

The Dirt #61 is brought to you by Tropicool + aRod.  Expect a heavy dose of rooftop sunset vibes + beach haus grooves courtesy of Plastic Plates, Moon Boots, Gigamesh, Beni, Cosmic Kids and…Phil Collins (and many more!).  It’s a dozen disco-filled donuts, all available for your downloading pleasure (via the GDD™ Facebook page)!  Dig in…

Tropicool Picks

• Moon Boots – Aretha

Moon Boots is on absolute fire. His original productions have a very special funk feel and keep getting better. Definitely an act to keep an eye on if you don’t already.

• DJ Nibc & Patrick L ft. Andrea Cavaco – Call Me (Mercury Remix)

Another deep sexy groove by GDD favorite DJ Nibc. Silky vocals and an infectious bassline.

• The Do – Gonna Be Sick (Mylo Remix)

The holy god of all gods Mylo is back. This track is rather rock infused but an incredible remix. The guy is so diversely talented. Is there anything he can’t do?

• Princeton – Florida (Cosmic Kids Remix)

The new one from our LA boys Cosmic Kids. Magical undertones over a very nice indie dance track. Feel good any time any where.

• Plastic Plates – Toys

The first original production Felix Bloxsom produced under his own alias Plastic Plates. It keeps on building and is so multifaceted it’s mind-bogling. And of coarse the production is 2nd to none. One of the best songs of 2012 for sure so far.

• Stars on 33 – LUV

Feel good groove to turn that frown upside down. Pair this with a disco biscuit and a light up dance floor and you may never come home.

aRod Picks

• Phil Collins – In The Air Tonight

After being (hilariously) mocked by Mike Tyson in The Hangover & Stewie on Family Guy, I never thought this song would recover and be cool again.  I was wrong. Cosmo Black brings it back with STYLE.

• Rodion & Khan (feat. Andrea) – Discoteca Romana (The C90s Remix)

FACT: The C90s always make solid remixes (If you don’t believe me, look up their remixes of “Crave You” and “Washing Machine”).  The C90s consistenly make can’t miss, go-to disco remixes.  This remix of Rodion & Khan is no exception.

• Grouplove – Tongue Tied (Gigamesh Remix)

One of my favorite characteristics of Gigamesh is his diversity.  He’s got a flair for mixing up genres from disco to freestyle to chilled out pop.  His remix of Grouplove shows a knack for playful disco pop.

• Fallulah – Out of It (Chameo Remix)

Danish producer Chameo brings the goods on this one.  Uplifting synths, blissful female vocals, epic breakdowns + a mountain full of catchiness & bounce.

• Matt Corby – Brother (Lancelot Remix)

Get used to Lancelot.  You will be hearing a TON of good things from him in 2012.  Whilst we wait for his “We Can Dance” EP to drop on February 20th from Binary (with remixes by Goldroom, Fabian, Moonchild & Frames) this beautiful Lancelot deep house remix should tide you over for the time being.

• Kimbra – Two Way Street (Beni Remix)

Capping off this week’s Dirt is a slow-burning, minimal house remix of the oh-so-lovely Kimbra from our boy Beni. Enjoy…
