He’s baaackk. Last year, the man known as the ambassador of Funk, Damon Riddick, otherwise known as DâM-FunK, released a handful of groovy, synthesizer heavy instrumentals, unheard b-sides and a collection of jams recorded during the late 80s called Adolescent Funk. The Stones Throw representative is now gearing up for a full on North American tour, and is also prepping his fans for a brand new, four-track EP called InnaFocusedDazed.

Last year was a big year for the Ambassador of funk himself, DâM-FunK, releasing an assortment of singles, instrumentals and an 80s collection entitled Adolescent Funk via Stones Throw. Since then, the formidable producer has been randomly releasing a slew of unreleased material, including March’s disco amicable “Staying Super Fly,” and now his most recent groove, “Don’t Give Up.”

A match made in Los Angeles heaven it seems. The Ambassador of Funk himself, Dam Funk, and disco enthusiast Nite Jewel are apparently working on a full length together for Stones Throw, which would be aptly titled Nite Funk.

New West Coast bedroom disco-funk from Nite Jewel and L.A.’s “Ambassador of Boogie Funk” himself, DāM-FunK. This track appears alongside a Samps remix on the b-side of Nite Jewel’s new It Goes Through Your Head 12″, out soon on Mexican Summer. Bodes very well for the future of Nite Funk:

Known as the Ambassador of Boogie Funk, Dam-Funk has been producing tunes for over twenty years now, but only started to get noticed when Stones Throw signed him last year. After the compelling Toeachizown, this year’s Adolescent Funk (recorded from 1988 – 1992) and his work in Master Blazter with producer Computer Jay, the seemingly lost genre of electro funk has risen from the ashes. Two days ago, Funk tweeted “Hello,” indicating that he was yet again releasing another unreleased track, this one entitled “Beautiful Creep.”

The seventh installment from All City Records ten part 10” series is here. “3012 Love Affair,” produced by two thirds of the group Master Blazter, (soul junkie Dam Funk and beat maker Computer Jay) explores the instrumental infusion of electronica and funk. It’s a jam track that allows Jay and Funk to effortlessly incorporate analog and high pitched synth samples with their Casio SK-1′s, instilling this very laid back, funky ambiance.
