Above..The Royal family. They probably wouldn’t like this post.. Hopefully you will though..
I’ve given you a couple of things I’ve stumbled across already this week, but here’s a comprehensive roundup for you.
Regular FPK visitors may be familiar with the work of Adam Smith, who’s superb remix of Hot Chip was featured here recently. In addition to that, he has also remixed Florence & The Machine’s megahit You Got The Love, with a lot of synths! You can catch more of Adam’s work on his Soundcloud.

Okay, next up is Lambox. I’m going to give you two of his tracks, both of which are excellent. They are both remixes, of Jefferson Airplane & the theme from Requiem for a Dream. I came across the Illinoisan DJ on his Soundcloud, and I was hugely impressed. His style is chilled out dubstep, similar to other tracks I’ve featured previously.

Jefferson Airplane-Somebody to Love (Lambox Remix)
Last week, I posted a remix by Jakwob. I’m doing the same again this week. He takes the music out of a commercial for Zurich Bank and makes it into a brilliant dubstep tune. Another bank commercial, another sick dubstep remix, this one’s from Metaphi, and he remixes a Lloyds TSB commercial, which has rapidly become a Youtube phenomenon. Again, they fit into the liquid step/chilled dubstep sound.

I have to admit, I’ve been rather ignorant towards Mt Eden Dubstep. Comprised of Jesse Cooper and Harley Rayner, the name was familiar to me, but I’d not listened to any of the New Zealander’s music. I eventually got round to it, and I was amazed. I’m going to post three of their tracks, all of which are fantastic. I could post their entire discography, all of them are good enough to feature here, but I’ve cherrypicked the three best for you. Mt Eden run their entire show from a Youtube page, and have now got a Facebook page too, but still are without Myspace or Soundcloud, astoundingly. The three tracks are Escape, an original, plus remixes of Chicane & Sarah McLachlan.

Jaylib were quite big back home, but it was before I was really a fan of hip hop. So I’ve been introduced to them by a commercial over here. Yeah, I know, street. Anyway, their track The Red features on an ad for O2 phones, and as soon as I heard it I knew I had to get that track. Jaylib is a collaboration between J Dilla & Madlib. In all honesty, I don’t think the rhymes are up to the standard of the excellent beat, which samples 70’s lesbian anthem Shine On, Straight Arrow, by Cris Williamson.

Recently, I covered Grime. I didn’t include Example. While he is a rapper, he isn’t part of the grime scene, and has more recently turned his hand to electro. Anyhow, this is one of his older tracks, Watch The Sun Come Up, and it is a sweet little acoustic track, which I could see my dad listening to just as easy as me. Its a sick track nonetheless, with some slightly peculiar lyrical choices, but overall it does work well. His album, Won’t Go Quietly is set to drop in June.

Although Simone White hails from Hawaii, most of her fame is in the UK, where her track, The Beep Beep Song is an indie favorite, with a beautiful, catchy chorus, and a very simple guitar tune. At just 1:35 long, it’s short but sweet.

The majority of my readers will already know this Moby track. When In This World was released in 2002, I was too busy listening to Sum 41 & Linkin Park to pay attention. 8 Years later, I’ve finally got to hear it, and I’d go as far as saying it’s the best track Moby has put out yet, although it is pushed hard by Bodyrock. Moby will be releasing a new album some time later this year, probably around fall time.

Shy Fx & T-Power are the UK’s main ragga producers. Shy FX is the pseudonym of London based Andre Williams. He is a pioneer of drum and bass music. On The Run comes from their 2005 album, Diary of a Digital Soundboy. It shouts ‘festival’ to me immediately with it’s fast beat and jungle sound.

Buraka Som Sistema are Angolan Kuduro producers, based in Lisbon. Foamo is a fidget house remixer based in London. Kano is one of the UK’s best rappers. They’ve collaborated on this track, Skank & Move, which Foamo has then remixed. It’s ended up sounding like the lovechild of Diplo & Hervé, which is surprising, but by no means a bad thing. I played this in a set a couple of days ago, and the dancefloor filled pretty quick. A good party track.

Nashville MC Starlito takes the Bagraiders classic Shooting Star and spits bars all over it, with good results. It’s from the upcoming mixtape Starlito’s Way III, and if this is anything to go by, it could be something to look forward to. However listing interests of women, money and progress and money again on his blog, it could become rather repetitive.

Logik has remixed the Bob Marley classic Is This Love. However, s/he sis something of a mysterious figure, with numerous searches unable to find a Soundcloud or MySpace. Anyhow, this is a nice extended dubstep remix, making listening to this even more relaxing. If anyone does track him/her down, please leave me a link as a comment.

We Are Scientists are soon to release their next album, Barbara in June. The lead single from this is Rules Don’t Stop, a good solid indie rock track. While it isn’t up to the high standards of Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt, it is still a good track and worth downloading.

Every month, iTunes in the UK gives out a playlist for free. This months was ‘Synth Pop’, which rather bizarrely included The Horrors‘ Cosmic Dub version of Memory Tapes track Bicycle. While it certainly isn’t Synth Pop it is a good track, although I can’t really classify it into one genre or another, it’s somewhere between Indie & Electro though. You can decide for yourselves and drop a comment with how you’d define it.

Finally is Lemon Beauty, a remix of one of my favorite classical tracks, Any Other Name by Thomas Newman, by the Secret Lemon Project. You will recognise the sample from the soundtrack to the movie American Beauty. The Secret Lemon Project is a collaboration between The Dub Lemon & The Lemon Pharma. Weird as it sounds with all these citric references, it is a good track.

I hope that keeps you aurally satisfied for the next week or so, or at least until next time.
