FEDDE LE GRAND + NICKY ROMERO + BENNY BENASSI

Fedde Le Grand - Rockin' High

Dutchman FEDDE LE GRAND shouldn’t need an introduction, afterall he released “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit,” one of my all time favourite tunes. Since that single dropped, his profile has been growing bigger and bigger and well, bigger.

I was pretty excited to see his latest appear in the inbox but had a huge amount of skepticism with BENNY BENASSI attached to it. Let’s just say NICKY ROMERO‘s remix, full of it’s 21st Century tribal-like drums makes up for everything.

Monarchy: New Single, Remix, Official Video and Highlights from Debut Live Show (which was the 1st to be broadcast into space!)

07 07 2010

After quite the lengthy post title as above, seems like there's really no need for more words to be spewn in praise of Monarchy and all that they've been up to as of late. However, I've been waiting for a good chock of days to finally get all the info needed here to properly write this up...so blam blam blam...and away we go!

Last week, as part of the Strangers in Stereo blog collective (which I'm amped to be a part of since its inception) and our weekly feature "Now Playing", Monarchy took my top spot for most played artist/song thanks to Love Get Out Of My Way, and its respective remixes, which will see an official release on August 30 (pre-order here). Mixes come from Sinden, Tim Goldsworthy, Holy Ghost!, Treasure Fingers and Benny Benassi. The TG Dub is free to download below and you can hear the Benny treatment here. Rest assure, the remaining fixes are equally awesome, but being the obedient (and selfish) beast that I am, both cannot and will not post.

Additionally, the official video for LGOOMY has been released. Watch it below. But then don't stray too far, cause I'm writing more stuff, so yeah...pay attention, please and thank you.

Before letting you run off and dance to their killer cuts, a most beastly piece of news action from the Monarchy mates needs to be dropped.  On Saturday, June 19, the lads held their debut live show, at the Kennedy Space Center, in Cape Canaveral, FL. The performance came in front of roughly twenty people, and was also the first live show to be broadcast into space. Neato!

You can watch a mini-documentary from the event below.

If you can't tell, I'm just a LITTLE bit excited for what these dudes have in store. Yep.

Yeah…

Kelis has definitely dived headfirst into this mirror ball-tinged reinvention hasn’t she? With her own album, the acid-synth infused, Flesh Tone, finally seeing the official light of day just a couple of weeks ago and the deluge of impending remixes to follow you would think she had enough on her plate. Yet Kelis returns, albeit as a “featured vocalist”, for Benny Benassi’s new single, “Spaceship”, the debut track off his forthcoming album, due out this fall.

But this post isn’t really about Kelis, or Benny for that matter, it’s about Kris Menace. Namely, Kris’s distinct role in turning yet another Dave Guetta-esque thump-thump-bleep track into a shimmering, glossy, night under the swirling stars remix. And the dub version…well it’s even better. Kris wisely does away with Jean-Baptiste’s wannabe will.i.am rapping and also, boldly, strips Kelis’s vocals away leaving only a peppering of “yeah” and “get high”, transforming a grounded, stillborn, facsimile into something truly futuristic and worthy of the name “Spaceship”. I could picture Kelis walking down silver hallways, gazing out some glowing porthole at a far-off galaxy and uttering a very succinct, very deserved, “Yeah”.

This Saturday in San Francisco, I'll be headlining the dubstep brostep room upstairs from our good friends Pance Party and local DJ hero Sleazemore for the kickoff of a new monthly party called BPM. With a lineup like this, attendance is a no brainer. Be sure to check out the facebook event for more details.

This week saw the release of Pance Party's remix of Benny Benassi's new single; check it out below in addition to their remix of Paris' SomethingALaMode.

Benny Benassi, Kelis, Apl.de.ap and Jean Baptiste – Spaceship (Radio Rip)

04 19 2010

Two thousand and ten. Otherwise known as the year of Kelis. No really…it is. This time, however, she’s joined up with Italian DJ extraordinaire, Benny Benassi, to provide the vocals on his upcoming single, Spaceship. Let’s get corny and just say it: this track is out of this world. Yep. Went there.

While we know that Benassi will release a new album this year, there is still no definiteive talk of an actual released date, album title or track list. What we do know, however, is that the first single will be Spaceship and features Kelis, Apl.de.ap and Jean Baptiste.

The BBC’s Pete Tong debuted the track this weekend and we know that a music video for the song has already been shot

Oh, and we know that this slice of radness is totally rocking our bodies.
