BASEMENT JAXX + HEAVYFEET + NICK THAYER

09 19 2011

Some deadly bootleg action courtesy of HEAVYFEET and NICK THAYER.

While on a three week tour of Australia and New Zealand in April, HeavyFeet got together with their good friend, Melbourne’s very own, Nick Thayer, and noodled in the studio. They round out the bassline in the classic track from BASEMENT JAXX, giving the house tune a slight makeover. “Red Alert,” is the first of their studio collaborations to be showcased, and comes with love and support from us and nearly everyone else.

Peep the tune in the player below, then grab the download from Bandcamp.

I’ve been banging a tonne of tunes from each act lately. Check out one of HeavyFeet’s latest and head to Juno for a whackload of ghetto funk!

Basement Jaxx – “The Ends”

05 04 2011

Basement Jaxx make their debut as film score composers on Attack the Block, an upcoming sci-fi flick the producers who have brought you such delectable and important films like Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim vs The World.

Taken from the Basement Jaxx’s score, “The Ends” is two minute slab of wide-bass dubstep, certainly the grimiest two minutes of the duo’s career. Those last 30 seconds are just golden. Listen to the track below:

04 18 2011

The last time Simon Ratcliffe has come out with any of his own music apart from Basement Jaxx, where he shares duties alongside fellow London based producer Felix Buxton, was in 1995 with his City Dreams EP. Now, after putting out several successful stints as a duo, Ratcliffe is preparing the world for a new solo EP called Rijkers, which hits stores June 6th via him and Buxton’s own Atlantic Jaxx.

Basement Jaxx – Dracula, Kraymer

12 17 2010

Its not often that big producers change their sound very radically. basement jaxx are commonly known for their dance floor friendly, uptempo electro. when looking through their discography everything that they have made in recent years pointed them in the direction of achieving further mainstream popularity. (this is justified by their teaming up with many pop vocalists)

dracula is a dark and twisted turn. when it came out on beatport, i jokingly commented that they must be taking acid now. the song shows their true artistic expression and also acts as a statement that they are not going to sell out like e.g. David Guetta.

The sound is so refreshing that, for me personally, i have a new found respect. kudos to you Basement Jaxx

Basement Jaxx – Dracula (Sorry, I can’t share this one. but here is the Beatport link, but you have to listen to it!!!)

Kraymer is continuing his (stoney) road down to wonky town with his newly released Booty EP on beatport. Booty EP is wobbly as all hell with sounds in the tracks which you could joke were made under water. so To draw a little attention to this ep here is the link

Prolific London DJ and production duo Basement Jaxx dropped “Dracula” today – it’s a four-minute nugget of trance-y, house-y goodness as ready and waiting to be thrown on the True Blood soundtrack as on the stereo at your next rave.
