You know the details of Air’s upcoming Le Voyage Dans La Lune – the French electro duo were asked to score a restored version of George Melies’ original sci-fi film of the same title, and their project quickly evolved into a full album that includes vocal contributions from Beach House’s Victoria Legrand and others. We’ve caught some of the band’s excellent cuts from the score, including “Parade,” which NPR premiered a snippet of late last year alongside restored footage from the film. Now you can hear the complete psychedelic instrumental jam with some attendant topical visuals. Le Voyage Dans La Lune is out on February 7.

We know about the French electro duo Air’s latest ambitious project – writing a score for a remastered and recolored version of Georges Melies’ innovative Le Voyage Dans La Lune, then penning the rest of an album inspired by and titled after that seminal sci-fi forerunner. Now, in advance of the record’s February 7 release date, comes another new track, complete with a video compiled of clips from the film, “Sonic Armada.”

Another day, more info about Air’s upcoming record Le Voyage Dans La Lune! NPR reports that the band were asked to write a score to accompany a newly restored version of renowned French filmmaker Georges Méliès’ 1902 short film of the same title, which is widely accepted as the first science fiction film ever made. Inspired by the music they penned for the 16-minute film, they decided to expand their ideas into enough material for an album, which will drop February 6.

Air have been making electro ambient music that’s as simple and necessary as their name since their formation in a suburb of Paris in 1995, and now they’re gearing up to release their seventh album (and their first since 2009’s Love 2), Le Voyage Dans La Lune, due out February 7.
