Groovin The Moo Maitland

05 07 2013

The open paddocks of Maitland became home to about 10,000 punters on the chase for good music this passing Saturday, for the annual Groovin The Moo installment. We decided we’d take our cameras along.

This year’s Groovin The Moo saw a broad collective of Australian and international artists take to the land of the cow to grant us some rural love, including Tame Impala, The Kooks, Shockone, Example and Flume.

The XX (Hordern Pavilion – Sydney 06/04/13)

04 07 2013

The xx headed to Sydney for two sold out shows at the Hordern Pavillion, a large scale-up from their previous promo tour when they played the Metro.

Feeling a whole lot tighter and more up-beat Jamie really kept the momentum moving forward with his beats and live drumming while Romy and Oliver found more stage presence throughout the set.

The encore of Intro and Angels really helped tie together the whole performance along with the unveiling of the giant X!

What a night.

The Prodigy @ Hordern Pavillion (7/3/13)

03 07 2013

90′s electronic-rock outfit The Prodigy saw fit to bring it at their Sydney Future Music sideshow at the Hordern Pavillion and boy did they do just that!

With a swathe of strobes and lighting the intensity was equalled with the revelling crowd and band who knocked out favourites “Firestarter” and “Smack My Bitch Up” making this a ‘you had to be there’ sort of deal.

The Prodigy, we salute you!

Azealia Banks – Enmore Theatre, Sydney (06/03/13)

03 06 2013

We moseyed down to the Enmore Theatre last night to catch ourselves a needed hip-hop fix that was easily delivered by the rhythms and rhymes of Azealia Banks. The fiery young rapper delivered an amazing live performance that was coloured in pure sexyness, leaving us all dripping in sweat and definitely turned on.

Sydney’s own Nina Las Vegas warmed up the crowd with a vibey hip-hop set, and as the lights went off and DJ Cosmo- Azealia Banks’ travelling DJ- stepped on stage, the excitement levels started to peak along with the majority of crowd members.

Dressed in tiny short-shorts and a glowing crop top (literally glowing), Azealia confidently made her way on stage and serenaded us all with a nice mixture of tracks throughout her hour and a half long set, including some golden oldies from the ‘Fantasea’ Mixtape and some of her more recent and globally recgonized tracks from her killer 2012 EP ’1991′, such as ‘Liquorice’, ’212′ and – of course- ’1991′.

Everyone in the crowd wanted a piece of Azealia last night, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want some either. She epitomised sexiness and a gangster attitude which definitely kept everyone in the Enmore Theatre extremely captivated from the get go. To sum her up in one word; Goddess.

For those who weren’t there, you definitely missed out big time, but here are some dope photos we got from the evening displayed below to help you all experience/relive it!

Lunice, Melbourne

02 18 2013

Here is the second feature album from our Melbourne bender. Canadian cool-cat LUNICE played an exclusive gig at the Revolt Art Space on Saturday that is arguably the most insane intimate performance we have been too. Aside from jumping around on stage performing some jaw dropping dance moves, LUNICE delivered some killer new tracks and some devious oldies as well. Check out our photos from this huge night below.

Flosstradamus @ Cant Say

02 17 2013

Flosstradamus and Sydney duo What So Not (with Flume & Emoh Instead) play mega sets at Melbourne’s CANT SAY nightclub.

Stoney Roads felt it quite necessary to make our way down to Melbourne for this full capacity event, and GOD DAMN how worth it it was. It is safe to say the Chicago fellas, Flosstradamus, delivered the goods on Friday night, and this was followed by a huge set from our Sydney buddies What So Not.

Keep your eyes peeled for our Review/Personal Account of this Stoney Roads weekend away as well as our album from LUNICE’s performance at the Revolt Art Space.

Sasha Plays The Metro

01 30 2013

We headed to a concert with dance music legend Sasha for his epic 5 hour set from 1am till 6am at the Metro. Having seen the footage coming out of Ushuaia and the apprehenension surrounding Involver 3 we had very high expectations. With an amazing set backed by good stage production. We can say he delivered.

One Night Only With The Chemical Brothers

01 09 2013

Not to be forgotten amongst one of the best Field Day line ups to date, and an incredible Shore Thing on NYE, Future Music organised a sideshow to set the bar for the rest of 2013, One Night Only at Home last weekend.

Featuring electronic extraordinaires Booka Shade, pioneers of dance The Chemical Brothers (who have been debating with Tommie Sunshine) and finishing with Carl Craig in the main room, One Night Only quickly drew a crowd looking to catch missed festival sets, or re-live them in a more intimate club setting, and all three delivered shows that reinforced the hype leading up to the gig.

However it was the upstairs performances of Scuba and Maya Jane Cole that came as a surprising and very welcome booking, made obvious by the hundreds of people trying to squeeze into a room that held half the capacity; perhaps an issue the venue could have pre-emptively addressed by giving them a bigger space in one of the other rooms, but certainly not one that detracted from the intensity and energy of their sets.
