Win a Runaways Movie Prize Pack!

03 10 2010

Ok, ok…we’ll admit that we’re slightly more than super amped to see the new biopic surrounding the rise of The Runaways, the iconic 70’s gal rockers, led by the inimitables Joan Jett and Cherie Currie. We’ve strayed from reading any pre-opening reviews, cause frankly, we don’t care what anyone has to say…we’ll judge for ourselves. How punk rock of us!

Runawaysprizepack

The Runaways follows Jett and Currie as they rise from rebellious L.A. street kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. They fall under the guiding hand of rock impresario Kim Fowley, who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning lead the cast of talents in the flick.

The movie opens with a limited release next Friday, March 19, and nationwide on April 9; however, if you simply can’t wait for all the riotous radness to explode, either watch the trailer here, OR enter for a chance to win a severely massive prize pack. We’re giving away one of these beastly bundles and we’re also a little bummed we can’t win this.

Fenech-Soler – Stop And Stare (Reset Remix)

03 10 2010

UPDATE: No more mix from The Fur. But now we have the Reset Mix below!

Last year, we got a tasty teaser of Fenech-Soler’s newest offering, Stop and Stare. We actually got in a bit of hot water for hosting the track prior to a proper release (hence the stream here), thanks to a defunct PR outlet…grrrr. Never the mind, though, because we have a fresh new fix, worthy of all ears.

Fenechsolerfur

Hot remixing up-and-comers, The Fur, hit us in all the right spots this morning with their remix of the UK band’s infectious foot stomper. Taking the track to a 6+ minute mark of cool, the hairy hands of this production team scored a winner with this remix.

Stop and Stare is out via Moda in April.

Not much else to say…we’re too busy playing this for the 6, no, 7th time in a row now.

Ray Mang (featuring Lady Miss Kier) – Bulletproof

03 10 2010

There are very few artists that I will simply say YES to no matter what time or what consequence. One is the grand funkatronics of George Clinton; the other, the velvet lined licks of Lady Miss Kier, most notably remembered for her work with Deee-Lite. So to find out that the two are somewhat, kind of, although not really paired together, well we just nod and start writing.

Ladymisskier

Ray Mang, the alias of UK master-producer, Raj Gupta, stole the basic formula for Clinton’s track, Bulletproof. And by formula, I mean he’s reworked and refreshed it for modern ears, by lacing a wet and wobbly bass and synth line with the distinct tongue of Kier.

What more can I say about this? Not a lot, because I’m 100% preoccupied with dancing around like a damn fool to this.

Get in on the fun below.

Carniville takes place over the course of March 18, 19 and 20 at the Mexican American Cultural Center.

So how does one get in to the event? For starters, it’s free. And secondly…go here to RSVP, you lucky fools.

Florence and The Machine – Dog Days Are Over (new video!)

03 10 2010

With the re-release of her single, Dog Days Are Over, Florence and The Machine felt it fitting to freshen up the coinciding visuals as well. When first released in December of 2008, a video came through shortly thereafter, much to the begrudgings of Welch.

Florencenewvideo

Of the original clip, Flo notes: "The new video shoot was much more lavish", continuing on "the original was so cheap. It was a video camera in a forest, with my dad and Marks & Spencer sandwiches."

We dig the new frizzy Flo footage…see for yourself below. Florence and The Machine’s re-release of Dog Days Are Over is due out on March 22.
