ELITE FORCE + RESET! + CULPRATE + MUSE

03 17 2012

It’s amazing how time gets away. It’s my last night in Puerto Vallarta after nearly two weeks of a family vacation. Internet access has been hit and miss despite the wifi in the condo we’re staying in.

That’s the long way of saying I’ve missed two revamps from ELITE FORCE. Let’s get down to it then.

The first (which is the third in the series of free downloads) turns the underlying darkness of Muse into a bass heavy monster.

Free download

The second one I missed (the fourth in the series) pumps up Reset!’s disco stomper.

Free download

Last week Mr. Force also released his latest single which by all accounts will slaughter any dancefloor with a penchant for the heavy and the breaks.

Grab it from beatport.

DJ EARWORM

03 15 2012

I’ve been a fan of DJ EARWORM for eons it seems. His mashups are always tight and this is just another example of his technical perfection. For real, if you never heard any of the originals in this mashup, you would think this was a proper release.

VANDAL

03 15 2012

Here’s something from seasoned dj/producer VANDAL for just about any jock. The release is nearly impossible to define, covering breaks and electro with some techy deep house flair. Peep the tunes below then grab your favourite from beatport.

If you weren’t in the know, Vandal also produces under the alter ego, Captain Magic. This one’s a bit of a stomper.

KNIFE PARTY + DJ CHUCKIE + REVOLVR

03 09 2012

REVOLVR sent us his latest bootleg and it’s a bit of a stomper. The mashup itself is pretty basic. It’s undeniable though, that this would slaughter just about any dancefloor and it’s due to the moombah breakdown.

The cut had me searching for a moombahton remix of “Internet Friends” since I wasn’t sure if Revolvr tweaked it himself or if there was something out there that was used. A few things came up but the EBORALL remix stood out for a few reasons.

Free download

Incidentally, Eborall has an entire moombah set for free download. It’s well worth checking out, despite being out for a hot minute already. (I’m not ashamed to say I’m too busy with a million other things to hear practically anything not submitted to us.)

Oh, and this is quite good too. Check GO BUCK! out for a tonne more.

I think Go Buck! needs a post of his own soon. Maybe if he sees this he’ll send us something.

Oh, and a question for you all – how the did DJ Chuckie’s tune ever top beatport’s charts? This tune is annoying as fuck, don’t you think?

…since we’ve somehow did this mini mega post, we might as well finish connecting the dots, no? I’ll stop here though and let you figure out the link between KNIFE PARTY and PENDULUM.

CARY ANN HEARST + LANCE HERBSTRONG

03 08 2012

The blunted trio better known as LANCE HERBSTRONG released their second album, Meth Breakfast, a minute ago. Their third single baths Cary Ann Hearst’s tune from True Blood in bass, then splash a bit of AC/DC and Led Zepplin for some added pep. It’s below, and by all accounts is a tune you need. More importantly, you need to hear this played loudly.

The original tune is a bit sombre, and well twangy. The Herbstrong boys cook the rawness of the it into a meaty dish thick enough to fill any basshead for weeks.

BASEMENT FREAKS – BOUNCE THAT JAM

03 07 2012

We don’t post mixtapes that often, but this latest from BASEMENT FREAKS is too good to pass up. I was hooked from the opening cut. It showcases a tonne of tunes from the BOMBASTIC RECORDS camp, which is headed by Mr. Freaks himself.

The label is home to some Manalogue favourites – many of which appear on this mixtape so make to check the links below.

LANA DEL REY + KRIS MENACE

03 07 2012

The Manalogue jury is still out, deciding what we think of LANA DEL REY. Is she an indie-minded songstress or a guilty of being a manufactured pop star with millions in marketing dollars behind her? She’s talented but the hype behind her was generated by HOW her label sculpted her image and told people to think of her.

Regardless, this official remix from KRIS MENACE is gonna light up dancefloors like fireworks on the 4th of July – especially in those spring break-esque party towns. It’s also a hint at what’s in the works for his upcoming long player and the unbelievable collaborations he’s working on.
Kris describes Electric Horizon as a “new synthesizer packed, electronical, emotional, futuristical discovery and an extraordinary, outstanding piece of music.”

ALL GOOD FUNK ALLIANCE – RHYTHM & FX EP

03 06 2012

A few weeks back we gave away a tune from DC’s ALL GOOD FUNK ALLIANCE. We told you they were about to drop an EP and well, that short player was let loose digitally via a beatport exclusive. Here then are those four tunes in question, including a free remix from another Manalogue favourite, FUNKANOMICS.

In short, AGFA churn out three disco-ish nu funk tunes, while Funkanomics ghetto-ize the title track. Here are four party cuts that’ll beat the pepperoni off of any meat tray.

FEATURECAST – AROUND THE BLOCK EP

03 06 2012

I’m in Mexico right now with my wife and kids. I won’t lie, I’m enjoying the sun, salty water, and more than a few cervezas. Maybe it’s the setting, but this new one from JALAPENO RECORDS really speaks to me. Wait, that’s complete bullcrap – I love almost everything on this label – I just needed some lame segue and Mexico and jalapenos seemed to do the trick for now.

Here’s another confession – FEATURECAST has been near the top of my favourite producers list for some time. It’s no wonder then that I find his latest EP absolutely brilliant – a big beating, ghetto funkin’ bad ass slice of bass and breaks business. Lead track Around The Block features MC Alaska who is fresh from a hot collaboration with The Freestylers. C. Reid provides the science on two more tracks while soul man Greg Blackman rounds the ep off in style, already picking up radio plaudits from Craig Charles on his 6 Music Funk show for this track. This is all in anticipation of his full length which is out later this year.

Here’s one of his last bootlegs. If you missed this well, grab it now. You’ll thank us for it.

KRAFTY KUTS – LET’S RIDE

03 06 2012

Like whoa! The new long player from KRAFTY KUTS is all fire. As expected, the album explores breakbeat but the diversity in the spectrum still comes as a shock. Every tune in Let’s Ride is an absolute must have. Don’t believe me, check out the album mini mix.

JHAMEEL + SHAROOZ

03 01 2012

Only a month late on this one – if you haven’t scooped it yet this one comes highly recommended from Manalogue HQ.

Label boss, SHAROOZ, over at LA BOMBE cut up this free remix of Oakland singer-songwriter Jhameel’s “The Human Condition.” With some techy undertones, this house tune could easily light up those dark spaces.

The remix came as a result of the colab between La Bombe’s Surrender and Jhameel. Catch that tune below.

TIMOTHY WISDOM

02 29 2012

Let it be known that I despise preview clips in SoundCloud (or any other media). It’s pretty clear why the practice exists, it’s still annoying though. It’s especially painful when the tunes are so effing good. Take for example, the latest single on BOMBASTIC JAM.

Hailing from Vancouver, TIMOTHY WISDOM brings the ghetto and the funk together, then folds in a tonne of bass for one of the most exciting singles I’ve heard this year. The EP is exclusive to beatport for a couple weeks so peep the clips below then grab the full cuts.

EMPRESARIOS

02 29 2012

Hailing from the Washington DC area, the EMPRESARIOS mix diverse cultures and sounds together. As one could imagine by the band’s name, there’s some obvious Latin influences at play. It’s evident in “Bestia Remixed” EP.

They enlist four top producers for some blazing remixes on their latest single. First up is J.Boogie conjuring up a deep digital cumbia reworking of Cumbia Salvaje, the tempo is up and the bass is booming!

♥♥♥ The man of the moment, BOBBY C SOUND TV, created a ghetto funk remix of Bailando that is just unstoppable. This is the standout of the bunch. ♥♥♥

Dutch producer Solo Moderna has turned Sentimiento into a one-of-a-kind tropical bass anthem from another planet.

Rounding out the EP is Stereo 77′s ‘Ricanstruction’ of Bestia, turning it into bass-heavy Latin house number that oozes that Miami vibe. It just so happens this tune is available for free download too.

If you can’t handle the vocals, instrumental versions are also available. Check it from iTunes or beatport.

SMALLTOWN DJS + ALANNA STUART

02 28 2012

Featuring the vocals of Alanna Stuart of Bonjay, this ep from SMALLTOWN DJs is jam packed with club tunes ranging from dancehall rhythms to house versions. If your ears work, you can’t not have fun at a Smalltown DJs gig. That’s a scientific fact. Look it up. Remixes come from SO SHIFTYOLIVERTOP BILLINEMYNDJUBILEEMOMAZING.

Preview in SoundCloud or Bandcamp, both are below.

The Canadian duo’s uncanny ability to make crowds feel like schoolkids at recess stems naturally from their focus on maximizing fun for themselves. On the production side, the duo has in the past also released several blends, remixes and re-edits that have been getting play all over the world. They’re focused on making fun dance music with a sense of humour. Not surprisingly, Smalltown DJs production style resembles the squad’s approach to deejaying – polymorphous, party-focused and pretension free. Smalltown DJs’ quest to maximize fun for themselves and others is an ongoing saga.

TOP BILLIN – MOOMBA WORLD

02 28 2012

I never thought I’d like moombahton, but this compilation from TOP BILLIN has changed that. There’s some serious heat and enough bass to fill dump truck. There’s a quick SoundCloud stream below. If you want to explore a bit further, check out the bandcamp widget below that.

If you want my opinion, the standouts are:

  • Too Fresh – Riddim Culture
  • Northie – Detonator

TIGERSTYLE + RANI RANDEEP + SHIZZO + BIG NARSTIE + G-TA + NUCLEYA

“Kudi” (translation means, “Girl”) is the first release from TIGERSTYLE’s forthcoming new album titled Digi-Bhang. The new material showcases the unique direction they’re taking, by making use of electronic and synthetic sounds and fusing it with Bhangra, international elements, and plenty of bass! This single features vocals of highly acclaimed female Punjabi singer Rani Randeep and comes with a bunch of intense genre jumping remixes, pure ammunition for all dancefloors.

ELITE FORCE + CHEMICAL BROTHERS + MILES DYSON

02 28 2012

As promised, every Tuesday for 20 weeks ELITE FORCE will release another of his revamps. This one the Chemical Brothers and Miles Dyson get intimate with Mr. Force in a breaks and electro threesome.

Free download

If you’re not familiar, Elite Force has let a metric tonne of these out over the past few years. A little over a year ago the project culminated in a full length album worth of revamped tunes. Unlike the first official collection, these are all free. There are however many one-offs available on his SoundCloud page.

Grab the first revamp from last week here.

Finally, let’s show our support and grab a copy of Mr. Force’s latest on beatport.

AARON SIGMON + CHUCKIE

02 27 2012

The latest bootleg from AARON SIGMON reminds me of earlier Stanton Warriors. I think the 808 has a lot to do with it. The tune is built on the original by CHUCKIE with chunky breaks added for good measure. Some tight kicks and snares and a bassline that rolls a bit like lightning on wheels (does that make any sense?) round it out. It’s a bit crunchy with some electro flare (or do I mean flair – they both work in this case). You’ll get the point when you click below for the free download.

SUPREME ACTION LEAGUE + PAT LOK

02 27 2012

PAT LOK is one of our favourite doods. He (and fellow Manaloguian CYCLIST) won the Rapture remix contest a few weeks back. We posted that tune before the winners were announced but we’ll post it again in case you missed it.

Ahem, back to the original intent of this post however. Pat’s most recent work sees him remixing THE SUPREME ACTION LEAGUE and the outcome spins you around more than the Griswolds in a traffic circle. It’s a bit house, a bit disco, and a bit garage. In short then, this tune is all good.

I’m beginning to wonder about the incestuousness of music these days. You see, last week we also got another track from The Supreme Action League. I’ve been a bit busy with some other things (like taking care of a wife and newborn, for example). I didn’t get around to posting so here it is now. In my first post about these doods, I described them as if Chromeo made ghetto funk. The latest from them keeps that in check. It’s a free download too.

DEADMAU5 + REFRACTURE

02 27 2012

Here’s an ultra-deadly remix from REFRACTURE. The intro’s a bit long, which makes the wumph all that more unexpected, if it weren’t from UK native. Alright then, let’s ‘ave it!

A couple weeks back we were sent this humourous wobble monster too. I’m sure you’ll recognize the sample. (Apologies for the late post – some of you may have heard my wife had our second baby and well, he’s setting the priorities.)

ELITE FORCE + MORD FUSTANG + THOMAS BANGALTER

02 24 2012

A little over a year ago ELITE FORCE released his first album of revamps – 15 massive tracks that catalyzed the change in the remix landscape. I’m giddy beyond belief with the recent announcement of the second revamped album in the series. The release structure is a bit different this time around with 18 tunes let loose from now until June 19. That’s a FREE DOWNLOAD of each track from RVMPD2, one per week, every Tuesday upto the 19th June 2012.

Before you pillage, check out Elite Force on beatport.

RVMPD2 sees the likes of Primal Scream, Miles Dyson, Basement Jaxx, Missy Elliot, Skrillex, Chemical Brothers, Thomas Bangalter, and Adele, respectfully torn to pieces by Elite Force, and cleverly stitched back together to form a unique dancefloor patchwork. With such diverse names as Joss Stone, Etienne de Crecy, Freestylers, Nero, Benny Benassi, Flux Pavilion, Muse, and Daft Punk thrown into Elite Force’s brilliantly unforgiving blender, ‘RVMPD2′ is an electronic music album like no other.”

This first one seems like a fine place to start. Here we have a massive bassline punctuated with some sharp snares and a classic Daft Punk riff.

Oh, and there’s this hilarious video on the making of RVMPD2.

HEAVYFEET + NATE JAMES + PROJECT BASSLINE + 8TH NOTE + REDNEK + STONEBRIDGE + WIDEBOYS

02 24 2012

Manchester’s HEAVYFEET have recently done a colab with NATE JAMES and the result is nothing short of incredible. Big, bouncy basslines form the core of this house / garage cut. It’s gently pierced with keys, flared at times making it subtlely calypso. The original is easily the standout of the single.

Watch for the release from CHAMPION RECORDS.

HeavyFeet & Nate James – Back Foot (Original Mix) ♥♥♥

Massive remixes from Project Bassline and Rednek up the ante for those wanting a bit more wumph.
