We were sleeping while Diplo was partying at the Grammys where he tweeted about this Major Lazer featuring Elephant Man cover of that Beyonce smash hit “Halo”.
Lo Fi Fnk are back with a new track and a new video (done by Mattias Johansson), this is just as mesmerizing as when they bursted onto the scene a few years back.
Doing great things at the moment, recently featured on Record of the Day, no doubt heading onwards and upwards under the steadfast leadership of Mr J.C Penycakes and Co.
And while you’re at it, seriously grab a copy of Fyfe Dangerfield’s new LP. It’s Daniel Merriweather meets Mark Ronson meets twenty kinds of awesome on a sunny Sunday morning, strolling along with a dash of narcotic afterburn from the night before.
Before this trip, I had been to Jakarta just once and that was just for a short stay in a hotel. This time I got invited for a full blown tour of the place…sat/sun/wed!
Bandung was crazy. It was a saturday night and we drove 3 hours into the mountains. I ate a curry puff and did a radio interview with a super hot indonesian dj girl. They were rockin my tracks on the radio all night!! I was like, where am I? I coined a new phrase for when something is really really good-DILLARANG! It was posted all over the airport and at the zoo and near electical wires. It just means “forbidden.” This gig was up in the boonies with all Indonesian kids dancing like mad. I had two hours and girls on table tops were gettin yelled at because the dudes on the tables paid to see ME! Pause!
Oh, here’s a local version of “Umbrella”
Speaking of dillarang. The signs around him said dillarang everywhere!
I coulda touched that damn thing in Bali. I even got to see a komodo dragon! My favorites…these lil cuties are just eatin a deer and a buffalo HERE
The Bali show was mad dillarang with a HUGE sound system. I swear everyone there was either a gay backup dancer for Britney Spears or a super model or a crazy artist. They all live on that island.
Bali is fun because the 7-11’s look like holy temples and I ran around drinking mushroom laced orange juice on a cabana. They were playin so much tourist neo-happy bossa nova and I was tripping so hard that I had to run to the dirty beach covered with garbage bags and candy wrappers just to escape the bossa gods…
Me and my homies all heard mad bali drums coming from nowhere while we were on these drugs. I swear to you, after a full day on drugs in the blaring sun taking pictures of the pizza I didnt eat and flowers and garbage bags… I was ready for the damned sunset.
I thought it would be like a magic sun or something or it would explode or at least blink at me after all the mushroom juice, but it just set in the horizon. It was still nice, nonetheless. Plus my hotel room had a pool (inside!)
Man the dj crew out there, Future 10, was just sick….so many good tunes! They keep Indonesia stacked with new tracks and new sounds and they made it possible for me to come there and rip it up. Shout to to DJ Hogi and crew!
And then Jakarta! I was there with my homeboys 2many DJs. They had this gigantica 10398098 ft screen to play the DVjs, but the real party was backstage where we all did karaoke with our new indonesian friends.
The Jakarta party was completely insane, like 3 thousand kids came through as you can see by the following pics. I’m too tired to write more!!! Sorry if I kissed your girlfriend! I was drunk!
This poor girl was given the wrong vaccination shot for swine flu here in the states…. instead they gave her the DUBSTEP steroid! (She actually now has muscle convulsions and sporatic jerks… kinda messed up but WOMP WOMP WOMP
