digitalfoxglove + freak you.

07 31 2009

french label on the fruit is known as one of the most reliable sources for heartfelt, epic dreamy soundscapes with a lot of attention to detail in the synthesizers department. we have previously featured label owner freak you (over here) and vintage wizard worship (over here) and are now introducing their latest signing digitalfoxglove.

based in germany, digitalfoxglove works as a graphic designer but has always had a strong passion for electronic music. fascinated by the kind of music featured on blogs like this, especially the rather melodic and dreamy tunes, he decided it was about time he seriously gets into music production and spent nearly his entire spare time for the last two years on getting the hang of it. and what can i say, it definitely worked out great!

'beasts and flowers' features catchy melodies supported by lovely chords and shows off a fair amount of originality and sophisticated synthesizer work. definitely not your average track, this collaboration by digitalfoxglove and freak you is a musical delight for everyone who's into (quoting myself) epic dreamy soundscapes and i am glad that we're among the first to post it (and i predict that many others will follow).

show digitalfoxglove some love on myspace. he is currently working with different vocalists and guest musicians to finish off his debut release for on the fruit. we will definitely keep you posted!

hostage.

07 31 2009

discodust resident hostage won't ever stop, you know it. consistently exploring new sounds and hijackin' them for a wild ride to rave territory, you can always be sure his productions will set dancefloors on fire.

this time he hits us with 'i get high', an uplifting summer jam which puts up a soulful sample against several heavy basslines, ending up with a perfect tune for this season! just like all recent hostage tunes, 'i get high' already got radio1 support and as (almost) always, you get it first on discodust!

hostage - i get high

and just in case 'i get high' doesn't feel heavy enough to you, we've got you covered, as hostage hooked us up with his latest heavy hitter 'welcome to paradise' as well, delivered as custom refined 'discodust mix'. if i wouldn't feel special 24/7 already anyway, now would be the time, right? anyway, play this loud!

hostage - welcome to paradise (discodust mix)

more goods from hostage are coming up soon, among them is a remix for the new foamo single 'wardance' and if everything works out, a mindblasting collaboration with someone very special. we'll keep you posted!

russ chimes + frankmusik.

07 31 2009

things are working out great for discodust favorite russ chimes. an australian tour is coming up soon, new original material for his heavily anticipated debut release is in the works and he just delivered one of his best remixes ever for the new frankmusik (pictured above) single 'confusion girl'.

for some odd reasons (don't even ask) the remix did not make it on the actual single but already got support on pete tong's radio show, being alex metric's 'track of the week' and of course our friends jaymo & andy george played it out as well.

if that wasn't enough, frankmusik himself says 'i would like to say personally that this is the best remix i have ever had done by anyone. you always deliver solid amazing dance floor fillers but this raises the bar'. nothing left to add besides that russ chimes is the man and hope you enjoy another discodust premiere!

on top of that, we also managed to get ahold of one of russ chimes' secret weapons in his dj sets, here is his unofficial remix of 'gypsy woman' by crystal waters.

watch out for more from russ chimes around here soon, rumour has it that he recently hooked up with starsmith and ellie goulding which makes us dream of great things to come!

Late Night

07 31 2009
It's yo boy Mustache Florida, coming to you straight from South Florida. This week I was lucky enough to see Steve Aoki bring the house down over at Club Liv in Miami. The highlight of the night was when he dropped Sandstorm by Darude, brought back some memories meng. All I can say is ze night was rediculouso.

So tonight we got some funky late night electro tracks fo yo ass.

The first track is from 2 guys who go by the names, "Starks & Nacey." Both these guys, along with Gavin Holland put on a monthly party up in DC called Nouveau Riche and it's supposedly pretty banging meng. This track of theirs, "Summer Madness" is straight up late night and still gives you that original Kool & The Gang vibe. This will most definitely be heard at Menace Beach next friday.

Starks & Nacey - Summer Madness

The next track is a remix from "Nacey", that he put out for the AA24/7 remix contest. The piano and "always anytime 24/7" vocals do me just right.

Dance Area ft. Austin Boston - AA247 (Nacey Remix)

And last but not least is a track from "Dert Cheep"....this is what he has to say about his track "Get Sum (We Run This), "Its a bass heavy jammer from the city of sin. Its got all the elements of a proper song...

1. Bass.
2. Vocal samples.
3. Alarm clock."

Well he said it right, it's got all the elements and I'm definitely feeling it
