moda moda moda

03 31 2009
Here we have two very samey tunes from Andy George, but weilding such filthy basslines they deserve a post. The garage-influenced Andy George has come a long way since we last left him - now hosting a show on Radio1 with his childhood-chum Jaymo. A dream come true following their school days of mucking around, where the two youngsters recorded makeshift radio shows using two cassette players, a turntable and a Radioshack microphone.

Weird, contorted bass punctuates The Futureheads' indie vocals and strummed riffs, snipped and slotted between gigantic slabs of wonky bass:

His remix of Rochelle sees stuttery, fidgety beats lead into a rumbling, pent-up bassline: pure bounce:

Rochelle - Chin Up (Andy George Dub)

And be sure to check out the Moda club nights run by Andy George, Jaymo, Benni Cassette & Ingo Staar.

Trouble Vision take on Matter

03 24 2009
After a number of successful nights at Corsica Studios, Trouble Vision now has its eyes set on Matter, the new (ish) super-club at the now defunct Millenium Dome in Greenwich. Trouble Vision will be hosting Room 2 with Headman, Jojo De Freq, Solid Gold and Park Ranger. Of course Style of Eye (an exclusive mix of whose can be found below this post), Audio Bullys and Azzido Da Bass are worth a see-in too.

And don't forget to catch Ettienne De Crecy's renowned visual cube show. Not to be missed.

Buy your tickets here, and use "SolidGold" as a promo code to get in for a mere £6.

This Is Kokuz

03 20 2009
Hailing from Budapest, Kokuz are a duo dealing in broken beats and thumping house. Their remixes revolve around simple breaks re-rubs. Over the last three months Kokuz have sent me a consistent line of remixes.

Their latest is a subtle reworking of the filthy electro-house anthem by Sharooz. They retain the spluttering, buzzy slab of bass, but undercut it with some choppy beats and a more forceful momentum:

Following my recent post on the huge house banger Float My Bloat, Kokuz strap a salt 'n peppa acapella to Lazy Jay's dancefloor tune. His remix of Fairmont's houser is a low-key re-jigg: half house, half breaks:
